....will they offer the US public anything new? As I see it the 2 biggest problems in the US are gun control and Heath Care. Both of which are political suicide to try and change. So are both sides now just left to fight over largely irrelevant scraps?

Getting back on topic, it's a shame, but says a lot about US politics, that the Democrats have largely brushed over their policies this week, whereas they'll probably get an airing from Republicans next week.
I'm not sure, all the same, there have ever been as many Republicans taking part in a Democrat convention.

not real..all voting for the same old, nothing changes rep dem's much of muchness, to me it's like watching an american daytime show, like the ellen degeneres show, all the wooping shouting cheering, dancing in the aisles...and for what...it's all fake and organised to the T. no real change is going to happen, but... i suppose if trump wins again you can watch out for blm lgbt and all the other odd balls groups rioting protesting..they will say, but we are the voice...err not if the majority voted trump your not.
