It's far too early to celebrate, a small step in the right direction maybe.

Still a way to go but encouraging.
there you go gromit
https://vk.ovg.ox.ac.uk/vk/how-do-vaccines-work
It's uses bacteria but the theory is the same. Vaccines merely equip the body to fight off invaders so they can't get a foot hold.
Gromit: "Just ignore the propaganda from Tory HQ and instead watch the death toll crawl up." - this is from scientists at Oxford who have been working on this solidly, why do you denigrate their work so readily? Just plain spiteful.
OK.
The UK have won the race and have a Corona beating vaccine ready for sale. AstraZeneca are going to make a fortune. Let see if they do
// Just ignore the propaganda from Tory HQ and instead watch the death toll crawl up. And despair.//

blimey what an old Mr Glum
11 deaths today which is peanuts cimpared to 65 000 cases today in Floridy

early days - the vacc induces antibodies which SHOULD work - but dont in Herpes, sort do in shingles which is really weird, didnt in typhoid but they used it anyway - and certainly do in tetanus, plague and anthrax

they are now planning to blow covid up the schnozz of vaccinated subjects and see if they DDDIIIIIIEEEEEEE!
er sozza
they are now planning to challenge with covid, vaccinated subjects and see if they get infected or not

the hacks and journos didnt understand the process
and the animation had an angry Killer T cell as a phagocyte
which are completely different cell lines

and the beeb journo asked in a punchy challenging fashion
"and the antibody has only been measured for 56 d and not years!"

and the researcher very nearly said - "that is because the trial is 56 d old you dimwit ...."
PP,
11 deaths today, back to 100+ by Wednesday.

Groan. Are you really that stupid ?
Cheer up Gromit: there are over 20 vaccines still in test at the moment and most aren’t British ;-)
Ick,
But they have already announced the Oxford trial as the winner in the race.
If would be a welcome boost to our economy, if it is true and not just bul**** to cheer us up.
Have they?
I think Gromit is reading something we haven't seen.
What “race” and who are “they”
FIVA perhaps: Federation Internationale des Associations Virus
(!)
Past my bedtime, so good night.
I hope Oxford does turn up trumps (ugh!)
The head of the lab there used to work with my brother in law.
Good Lord, Gromit must have been on the sauce.

Good to see things moving in the right direction but still a way to go so I dont think there are any winners here and certainly it wont be a Government that wins or looses.

My main concern is still the very fast time to market(potentially). Clearly they are looking to bypass some of the rigorous testing and/or the red tape that is in place to prevent disasters. Mass inoculation has been shown in the past to have problems I just hope we dont jump out the frying pan into the fire.
fingers and toes crossed that this will help.
According to the news last night the tests at Oxford have so far proved positive and the scientist interviewed said they were hoping to see the vaccine ready by Autumn. As Emmie says, fingers and toes crossed.

I'm not sure I understand anyone that sees the negative aspect of this :0/
Bobbie, plenty of glass half empty types on AB.
gromit: "PP,

Groan. Are you really that stupid ? " - where as in this case I agree, aren't you mods supposed to be setting an example by not name calling etc?
sticks and stone TTT
name calling
I support free speech I do ( er altho I see the anti-vaxxers are gathering about all and any covid vaccine. the v - word seems to part some people from their senses - even on AB !)

so please dont report ...
