Will know how abusive the public can be , the wearing of masks from the 24th is going to make matters worse,
Scenario: man / woman walks into store without one
Assistant asks politely “ please wear a mask”
Customer NO!
What then?
For all I agree with it , it can not be policed

FF, the Spanish have the ever present threat of the armed Guardia Civil who seem to have a more “hands on “ approach than our police force.

Not in a civilised country like Scotland, Danny.

Good luck getting a note from the doctor too as they flex their muscles work-wise and do it all down the phone..

FF, maybe that’s because other countries don’t lay down and allow them to do what they want?
How many customer facing people have had the * odd manager* who says the customer is always right ,even when he/ she is wrong?
I have, she went back to NI after a while,
There is a word in Northern Ireland which sums up the attitude of many of the people in this country and that's "Thran". It translates into Stubborn, cranky, obstinate.
We have the similar 'thrawn', hardly ever used though, no need. :-)
Douglas, you don't have to visit the doctor to get a note.He can check your medical records and send you a note by post.
Anyone who doesn't have to wear a facemask has an illness and so is much more vulnerable if they catch Covid. They shouldn't be going out at all to places where they can't stay a good distance from other people.
Barry, there be a time when that person has to visit a hospital.
One woman being interviewed on BBC this morning about masks advised that she has COPD and got the letter out of her bag to show them. Looks like Dr's surgeries are ahead of the game.

Part of the issue will be for retailers to get their own houses in order first.

When all this started, I was appalled at the way the staff at my local supermarket behaved. No social distancing, no following the one system. If the staff themselves do not adhere to it, it makes it more difficult for them to expect anyone else to. A staff member squeezed past Mr BM whilst he was waiting at the pharmacy and when he objected she responded that she had passed behind him so that was OK!

At hospital reception this morning, the receptionist only had her mask over her mouth. I think she might have heard Mr BM's waspish comment though since she popped it back over her nose.

I agree BM , it’s a two thing
Yes, danny, and my huge local hospital won't let anyone in that isn't wearing a mask. I saw it myself just a few days ago.
Barry, are you saying that they refused to admit patients ?
They insisted that a woman who had an outpatient appointment wear a mask even though she kept saying she would have difficulty breathing if she did. I know people going in as inpatients had to wear a mask in reception and public areas and I saw a man in his pyjamas wearing one when he went outside for a fag. (He took it off when he got outside). I don't know about when they are on the wards.
OK, Barry thank you,I'm glad that I won't have to visit that particular hospital.

You aren’t allowed to smoke anywhere in hospital grounds Barry ?
// armed Guardia Civil who seem to have a more “hands on “ approach than our police force.//

they kill more people - that doesnt make them 'better'
Most Supermarkets have said they will allow customers in with or without masks. They won't turn custom away!
// that she has COPD and got the letter out of her bag to show them.//

yeah I carry a letter around saying I have lymphoma which I was gonna produce if challenged on lock down
" ( any delay such as reading this long letter increases the chance he will drop dead in front of you")
eye test this morning
and I have to go along and sign
