I've been retired three years at the end of this month - somehow I don't think my boss will be bothering.
Can you give an example of a role where someone might expect a call tomorrow?
ff - // Can you give an example of a role where someone might expect a call tomorrow? //

According to Boris, anyone who is involved in any job where they can't work from home - manufacturing, construction and so on, can expect to be welcomed warmly back tomorrow - as long as they don't need a bus or a train to get there.
I've never stopped working.

For the common good of course, my real name's Al Truistic.
My OH has been back for a few weeks. I do most of my work from home so it doesn't bother me. As long as I hit the deadlines my boss couldn't give two hoots what I do.
I'd await a call first, Andy, or would ring up.
If an employee had been off it would either be because they'd been laid off or more likely furloughed because their place of work had been closed or scaled back. They would need to check their employer wanted them back- if furloughed they can't work for their employer, and if the factory/shop is closed why turn up? People may also need assurances about safety at work. Transport and child care may also need to be discussed as well as self isolation/caring/unpaid leave. Few employers will expect everyone back tomorrow after a six week break
Meant to add that if they had been working from home they should be able to ask to continue to do so
my work has asked everyone NOT to come back tomorrow. They want to digest the news, work out how to keep the employees safe and work out how social distancing might work before that. The vast majority of staff at my work, except for the people who are doing the actual manufacturing (and those keeping them safe) have been working from home anyway
Oh dear, someone else misinterpreting the message.
eh?
Oi ZM :0/////
I hope you meant someone else, maybe A-H, and not me, Zacs.
I've been through a list of about 20 family, friends and neighbours I know and none of them is likely to get a call to come back into work tomorrow.
Haven't stopped working and am on-call tonight so can't take phone off the hook...
I'll be amazed if I get a call to come back to work tomorrow. Safe distancing ( gawd knows how they will do that ), and ppe to be sorted before anyone where I work goes back I think.
Tony , are you *shielding* your wife?
Imagine the fun that the bolshy jobsworths are going to have policing the returning workers.
*shielding*

Is that a euphemism, Bobbi ;-)
I’d never heard of it till yesterday Tony , my friend has to work from home as they have a cerebral palsy son , she said she had to this with his health problems ?
Bobby, you are talking about Wolverhampton, it's the men who need 'shielding' and this was way before the blessed virus...
Aww Nooo, Tony’s a nice bloke DTC
