does it bother anyone that this has come into being. It has been implemented by the police and has caught it's first person, who is wanted for apparently assaulting an emergency worker.
see if i can find a link...

Didn't much care for CCTV as it spied on decent citizens. If they ever get facial recognition to work well it'll mean any dissent against the ruling classes will be risky. Authorities haven't indicated that they are always benign, and even those only as bad as our present lot can evolve to, or be replaced by, some lot more tyrannical. It's offering ourselves up...

How does it differ from CCTV everywhere which we've had for years?
Why would it bother anyone who is not being searched for by the Police?
Question Author
I have a problem with CCTV and this new profiling seems more Big Brother than anything.
You might be glad of CCTV if you were mugged on the streets. What concerns you about CCTV?

The Scotland Yard cameras record the faces of passers-by and send an alert to an officer's phone if they look like suspects on a wanted list.

the plan has proven controversial with human rights groups saying the cameras could lead to 'false positives'.
This could, they say, lead to innocent members of the public being stopped, searched and even arrested.
camera for every crime ridden area of the uk..bring it on, and also makes prison sentences longer with hard labour, explosive collars
for murderers and jihadists.

this system records everyone though....
//if they look like suspects on a wanted list. //

Then as long as the above does not apply to you what's the problem lol!
Seriously they can record all my movements and will be bored stiff. Aunt Polly goes into Sainsbury's, Aunt Polly buys knickers in TK Max -Aunt Polly is not on a Police most wanted list so Aunt Polly couldn't give a flying who records her movements ;-)
diddly: "How does it differ from CCTV everywhere which we've had for years?" - what part of "facial recognition" is tripping you up?
I'd rather see facial rercognition than racial profiling
Question Author
surely that is next.... ^^
emmie racial profiling is already used.
Question Author
is it, i didn't know that
Emmie - you often strike me as ultra-right wing (and law-abiding) so why do you have a problem with CCTV or facial recognition?
Question Author
i am more centre ground, and i do have a real problem with this, this isn't a police state, but at times it seems it is going that way.....
I know this will annoy people, but I'm of the 'if you've nothing to hide, what's the problem' point of view.
Question Author
i have done nothing wrong, yet my face may fit an
photo, i just don't like this at all, sorry...
Heavens above - for once I agree with you DD!
