I would avoid the pound shop as well, its full of rubbish from China. :0)
many Chinese go home in January to visit family. It only takes one person who has been exposed to the virus to cough over your prawn crackers and you may catch it.
I avoid that anyway, teacake :-). Maybe, apg, it just hadn't occurred to me. Perhaps I should as it seems to be local to here.
Britain is possibly the best equipped country in the world to cope with this
Says Newcastle in the Telegraph but that is where one of the treatment centres is located so could have started elsewhere. Worrying.

It was bound to happen.

LB ,here in Newcastle we have The Centre for Life ,I know it deals with world wide viruses
Unless you have preexisting conditions that affect your immune system then the virus won't kill you and it won't even present symptoms worse than the flu.

The flu kills 600+ people in the UK each year.

Coronavirus has some catching up to do. I'd be more worried about catching the flu than Coronavirus at this point in time.
This link to the MailOnline shows a map of other Countries affected. It makes me wonder if it's safe to travel at the moment.

Yes, lb... the headline stated "in Bucks" and went on to say Milton Keynes, but that they were transferred for treatment in Newcastle to a hospital that specialised in it. I wish I had read the whole thing now, but I skimmed through it as a client showed me at work.
Bucks Free Press.
I blame David Attenborough, he's always wading through bat muck on his travels.
"I’ve just caught it woof,"
oh dear!
//Unless you have preexisting conditions that affect your immune system then the virus won't kill you and it won't even present symptoms worse than the flu. //

now that statement most definitely needs posting in the science category to see if it gets deleted. you've provided no backing - scientific or otherwise - for that statement. what qualifies you to make it?
//Unless you have preexisting conditions that affect your immune system then the virus won't kill you and it won't even present symptoms worse than the flu. //

That TD is dangerous nonsense. The virus attacks the respiratory system, triggering an immune response that aggravates the lungs, causing swelling of the lung tissue and airways -this is what kills the patient. Chinese doctors are experimenting in trying to alleviate these symptoms by giving patients immune suppressants to stop the airways and lungs swelling up.
"I've just caught it, woof." If it's making you bark, then it's probably rabies, not the coronavirus:-)

Seriously badly worded by me bednobs , oh dear ,oh dear :0(
Newsflash - World leaders in preparedness.
Anybody presenting will spend no more than eighteen hours on a trolley in the corridors, but will be given a bell to jingle whilst shouting,, UNCLEAN.
APG and Mushroom I suggest you stop scare mongering and do your research.

"you've provided no backing - scientific or otherwise - for that statement. what qualifies you to make it?"

We're in news not science.

My backing has now been presented.

My qualification is the ability to do a short bit of research.

Then why have no all cases resulted in death?

Exactly.
