It’s a double edged sword, isn’t it. On the one hand eradicating disease or abnormalities is an incredible achievement. On the other, in the wrong hands, we’re in Third Reich territory.

yes I think it has incredible potential but how do we prevent it being misused? Inevitably it leads to effectively buying children out of a catalogue. I think the Chinese have done the right thing here.
The problem is, of course, that you can't uninvent/undiscover the technology, so there will always be somebody willing to do it if the price is right. (Illegal abortions, nuclear devices etc).
great idea...reminds of the film - Gattaca, seriously if say you have a family history of a serious health issue genetic etc, and you could stop it...then yea, double edge sword, mm people or governments will do it anyway..if the lay person has access great.
