when the clocks go back. It's still relatively early and yet it feels like midnight. Its been wall to wall cloud all day, it's the reason i didn't go out at all. Do you feel the same?

I like the dark nights. You can draw the curtains and shut out the world.
I have been prone to SAD, but seem better since being on a high Vit D dose due to a recent diagnosis.
Yes Emmie I feel the same. I'm almost a recluse at this time of the year. I only go out if I really have to and even then I put it off waiting for a better day when the sun is out even though it's cold.

i mean more in the day time, when its dark so early. I have been watching tv at any rate, but can't abide the change of seasons to winter, feel enclosed and away from things. Had it been sunnier i might have gone out.

does it help...
I used to get depressed when I worked 9-5, or rather 8 till 5. Went to work in the dark, came home in the dark and the building had tinted windows so everything looked grim all day. It's better for your mental health if you can get out for a little bit every day, emmie.

i know i should but mobility problems don't always mean i can get out. If it was sunnier i would have gone out earlier to meet up with some pals for a coffee,
Not so easy for you, then, I'm sorry to hear. Play some happy summer music - it always cheers me up.

i remember what that was like working 9-6
during the summer it wasn;t so arduous but winter with the constant rain we are having is making me down.
I know somebody who uses a SAD lamp (as recommended by their GP) over the winter months and it seems to help quite a lot.
About £40 from Amazon.

ginge, seems like a good idea..
I have a SAD lightbox mounted on the wall by my computer. Usually turn it on for 20 mins or so each morning in the winter. Does it do any good? I really don't know!
I prefer winter to summer, always have. Worked hard all my life to pay for a home that is secure, comfortable, cosy and inviting so I have no problem enjoying it through the winter months. The summer is a time to be extra busy in the garden.
Helps me as I am deficient in Vit D, as are a lot of the population who don't get out much.

A light box is also a good idea as suggested above.

i miss getting out. I don't go out of an evening these days, so if i don't get out for a time during the day means i get rather stuck.
I dislike the dark nights as I get older, cabin down early.

Put the light on behind the fire for a warm glow, crack open the rum for a rummy coffee, then, TV to see what is on.

At 74 years old, still cannot used to early dark nights.
I don't like early dark nights and mornings either. It does seem helpful to go out during the day, if at all possible.
What a pity emmie, happily I don't suffer in this way but I know people that feel the same as you. Make a determined effort tomorrow morning, wrap up warm, take an umbrella and go for a walk. Chances are that you will see a few people to pass the time of day with, you might get home a happy bunny. I have my fingers crossed for you.
