Ok well i just really feel that nothing is moving along very much in life whilst those around me or people i know are busy and moving forward i am stuck. Also i can be so depressed for say a week or two and time goes by. I seem to have this thing or problem that one small thing can happen to make me feel bad and it will be a downward spiral.

For example i will get upset at been a year at home since leaving uni and moving back in. I dont have the money coming in to allow me to move out and cant a seem to get a job to get me on the ladder.

So i mean no money so stuck at home so feel down so stay here and feel worse and even when i do good things like go swimming 3 times a week it never lasts.

when something gets me more depressed than normal i will then go on a not eat or eat v little phase and this can last a week or so. i know it makes me more depressed if i dont eat much but i feel i have to punish myself.

Joby - i am sorry i dont understand why you think i should count myself luckey? because i am receieving counselling?

I do count myself luckey enough that they had a slot for me and hope that i will be able to get back on track soon and someone else can use the service.
you say yu are living at home, do you talk to your parents about this? what is their view on what yu are like?
Question Author
i talk to my parents a bit about some things. But they dont think i should see a counseloor or anything at all in terms of help. "oh pull your self together"

they are good and help with looking over my job applications and dont ask for too much money but know i dont have much anyway.
~posy~ is right. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be to change. You're aware there's a problem, so don't let it be one of those things you'll deal with tomorrow, because you'll just keep putting it off. If you want, you can email me.
Question Author
hum yes i suppose thats life in a nutshell really to never make a habit of...oh maybe tommorow.

i could email but fear id be a pain!

my email ...prob bad to give out on here but hey ...whoops...maybe thery will ban my thread?!

my email is my user name with an _ between steve and 208 and i am at a hot place dot com.
have you tried doing some voluntary work? even just a few hours a week? it will give you a reason you get out of the house...and hopefully boost your confidence, as well as give you a warm glow for helping charity. and lots of places glad of the help and will give you any advice or training you might need - so u can't use that as an excuse.

it also looks good on your cv...rather than a bit of a blank, employers can see you were spending your time doing something useful and gaining experience.
Question Author
admitedly i am less stuck than i used to be earlier in the year. in the last month or so i have started doing charity/voluntary work again and try to do at least a day or two a week admin work at the local office of a cancer charity. Yes it is good and hope to get job situation sorted soon with some irons in the fire atm and some avenues on the horizon in a week or two.
When is your civil service interview?
Question Author
hey suzy....

you must have seen one of my questions a while ago if you have remembered about the interview.

Thanks for remembering.!

it was on friday just gone, it went okand they said it will be up to two weeks before i get a letter with the outcome of the interview. I will apply for some other things in the mentime.
Glad that it went ok but yes, probably a good idea to keep applying for other things while you wait to hear. Other than that, I know it's hard but try to get back to the swimming and set yourself small, achievable targets each day.

ok thank you very much to you all. i must go to bed now but i certianly feel bit beta for talking things over here.

thanks
Hi Steve :o)

I totally feel what you are going through as I am going through similar stuff. I finished uni 3 years ago (with not so good grade) and ended up unemployed for some months then finally got a job but was sacked from it for not being good at it so then spent 6 months doing nothing, then got a low paid job like yours and spent over a year in it, eventually I had to leave for personal reasons and I have been unemployed for 9 months now...I often too get depressed and dont see a way out and have no money and not that many friends. I dont seem to have the motivation to get up and really take control of my life. I find it so hard to write covering letters and post those CVS out. I wish I could help, man. If you fancy a chat then get back to me.
Hi Steve, I have read several of your posts, and can emphasise with you on some points.

The motivation thing. Posy has given you some really good advice.

But really, make a list.... I know its hard. I make lists all the time, but rarely stick to them! But its making that move. Writing things down, that clutter up your head. On paper they dont seem so bad. I have had times when I wake up, and everything clouds in on me, and I have had no motivation to get up. But I did! and the day got better.

Being in a dead end job may not make you feel good, but its a job, and its better than nothing. Its easier to find other work once you are in one already. It gets your confidence going, and is good for your self esteem.

I hope tomorrrow is a good day for you. xx
stevie208 hope you feeling better today.
