Shortly before 1:40 AM there were reports that an umber of people were found in a lorry's container

They believe the lorry is from Bulgaria and came into the UK from pollyhead on the 19th of oct

At this stage they have not identified where the victims are from or their identities.

Absoloute tragedy, sad day for essex police.

Appeal for anyone who has any information on 101 or visiting essex police website.

Will be updating channels when possible and it is a guess that the investigation will be a long one.

The police were called by an ambulance. It is not known how the ambulance service were made aware of the bodies.

I would have thought it should be pretty simple these days to have some kind of detection technology that alerts drivers to the presence of people in the trailer.

That would not just stop things like this happening, it would stop this form of people smuggling happening altogether.

True, but it would eliminate any doubt as to whether he was or not.
The migrant camps where they run after lorries to try and cut their way in would disappear at least because there'd be no point trying that method.

you see on tv news that many lorries do not have sufficient secure locks ! some doors are shown to be just pulled open by the calais migrants and other have stilsons to chop off the locks so no drivers don't alway have good security.
