Have just found a dead blackbird, half buried in a large (about 18" diameter)plant container full of soil (was last used for runner beans), what animal would do this? Fox perhaps? Any ideas?

Things my dog has buried in disused plant pots include a Pedrigree Dentistix, a sponge cake that didn't come out quite right and half a stale loaf that I put out for the birds.
