No link as they seem to want to keep it low profile but it looks like Sainsburys have taken the decision not to sell fireworks this year. If you or someone you know are affected by the constant barrage of noise, mess and smoke that happens at this season (and when did Firework Night become Firework season?) then you might like to comment on their facebook page or website? Hopefully another step in the right direction.

Much as I would love to say something to spath, I realise it would be a complete waste of time so I won't waste my time and energy. This is just to let anyone know who might be interested in contacting Sainsburys. I wrote them an email to congratulate them for taking this stance, but unfortunately, it has come back as having the wrong email address. I left the s off so...

Bunch of entitled old moaners who've forgotten the joy that fireworks bring to kids.
And for almost every reason you give for banning fireworks, I could x10 as a reason for banning dogs. I don't because I know how much they mean to some of you.
I don't think people are being moaners. Most are OK with controlled displays.

My cat isn't bothered by them but poor dog was petrified. I never gave them much thought until I got him.
Not all kids love fireworks, but if they do surely its better to see really good firework displays than a few miserable fireworks in their back garden. I'm all for kids enjoying themselves and have never said fireworks should be banned. Just that they should be used responsibly. But what I remember was fireworks night and perhaps a few naughty kids letting off rather tame bangers for a few days before and after. But then I'm an old moaner with a dog!
And penny for the guy of course!
Spicerack Have you actually read what the majority are saying? We are not asking for fireworks to be banned, just for them to be used at organised licensed displays. Did you read the links that Eve put on? If you live in an inner-city, fireworks are going off as early as 15th October when they go on sale. Have you seen the destruction they can cause when they are in the wrong hands?
To be honest, ladies, you're demonstrating perfectly why you weren't allowed in the Bobble Hat Club.
Little boys and little gals
Are very different animals
Hey Spicerack, I'd love to ban you.
Fair point spicerack, talk about the affect on the environment, how many trees are decorated around the country with plastic bags full of dog poo? How kuch plastic is used on dog toys and accessories. How many people have trod or fell in dog poo.. how many dogs have bit people?

Many reasons for banning dogs similar to fireworks but we dont simply because “people want them”
Now you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel with that attempt!!
//how many trees are decorated around the country with plastic bags full of dog poo? //
Sorry Spath.
I don't buy that at all. If that isn't one of your fantasy's then you must have some really weird people in your village. Once you fabricate reasons then you lose all credibility. I have never seen, anywhere, plastic bags of dog excrement adorning trees.

so pets and people should suffer because some dogs have bad owners? How does that work then? Lets punish all professional gardeners because some of them are cowboys!

//.... talk about the affect on the environment, how many trees are decorated around the country with plastic bags full of dog poo(DIAPERS)? How kuch plastic is used on dog(BABY'S/CHILDREN'S) toys and accessories. How many people have trod or fell in(OR TOUCHED) dog(BABY POO) poo.. how many dogs(BABIES/CHILDREN) have bit people(PETS/OTHER CHILDREN)?

My additions might be an exaggeration, but with your logic, spath, I'm expecting you to give thought to it.
*rolls eyes*

You clearly missed my post yesterday, or you have forgotten it, or simply ignored it, but it does bear repeating -

// You are busy falling into a very common fault in debating - the suggestion that because B is worse than A, that means that A is mitigated by being less than B, and therefore it doesn't matter if A continues, because B continues as well.

The reality is that B is worse than A, but that does not make A acceptable - both are negative to differing degrees, but one does not excuse the other. //

You continue to flail around getting further and further away from the point being offered by myself and others, and getting nowhere doing it.

Firstly, dogs and fireworks are far from a suitable comparison with which to prop your argument, which is entirely based on your unwillingness to see that the majority of posters do not what fireworks banned, simply controlled for the benefit of the majority at large.
They can have fireworks every day of the year, as far as I'm concerned, just as long as they don't bang, scream or crackle.
Exactly^. Several of the reasons given for banning the sale of fireworks are people misusing them.
As I said earlier, if that's the criteria for banning things, dogs should be higher on the list and drinking at the top.
Let's face it, it's a case of we don't like it so nobody can have it.

Did you read my post at 11:42?
By the way, I don't like or use fireworks. I just dislike selfish authoritarian people.
Not everything 'we' dislike should be turned into a banning campaign.
I did read your nonsense post. Just because you've said something, doesn't make it right. Seldom is, imo.
Clearly some don't bother to read others answers!
