Now that diplomatic immunity is gone would Mrs Sacoolas face arrest if she set foot in any EUSSR country? Or is the fact that she had immunity at the time of the offence mean not?
So is she in effect not able to travel anywhere in the EUSSR for ever without potentially getting arrested?

The UK would have to issue, and be granted, a European Arrest Warrant. I don't believe they have made such a request, or are likely to in the near future.
Question Author
so is that something that could be done now or would we have to wait until she was actually in say France?
Just heard on the news on Radio 2 that the young man's parents had a meeting with POTUS in the White House during which he informed them that Mrs Sacoolas was also in the building should they wish to meet her. A tad crass, imho. Needless to say they declined as they wish to meet her on their terms, not hers. And they want said meeting to be in the UK.
The short answer is I don't know. I'm actually not 100% sure that a EAW can even be applied to a non-EU citizen. Short research this morning hasn't clarified the point.
Question Author
well the EAW is designed to catch criminals EUSSR wide, presumably regardless of nationality, I don't think that would be limited to EUSSR citizens only.
She was not charged because she claimed Immunity. There is no arrest warrant out on her, so she could travel to Europe. But now her immunity has been lifted, she could face arrest and extradited to the UK if the British Authorities requested it.
I'd assume not, but I wasn't sure. I think the UK *could* issue a EAW, but at the moment there seems little point. Sacoolas is, apparently, "never coming back" to the UK, and issuing a EAW would presumably only have the effect of keeping her out of Europe.

As an aside, since the UK is almost certain to lose access to the EAW after Brexit, it would be politically moronic to try and issue one at the exact time that we are negotiating to give it up.
If there's the remotest possibility that she could be arrested on European soil, i doubt very much she would ever step foot on it.
I'm at a loss as to why you would be interested in or want to use a tool of the oppressors.

Maybe you cherrypick and lump it in with cheap booze n fags.
Does TTT not know it is the EU, not EUSSR ?

jim; "as an aside, since the UK is almost certain to lose access to the EAW after Brexit, it would be politically moronic to try and issue one at the exact time that we are negotiating to give it up. " - yes if we do get out. It was more a technical point that I was seeking to clarify but if the VBQC have there way they'll do their damdest to keep us in!

their!
Question Author
cold comfort to the parents but her husband is a diplomat and they travel, if we can prevent her from traveling to the EUSSR that would at least be something that inconveniences her.
I am a bit puzzled as to why the parents would travel to the USA and then refuse to meet Mrs Sacoolas?
There was never any chance she'd come back. The parents did well to sidestep the attempt to ambush them into a tearful apology session aimed at appeasing them so they'd shut up about it.

Unfortunately they do just have to live with it. You can only hope the woman concerned has trouble sleeping from now on.
Ludwig, so what was the purpose of the parents going to the USA?
Question Author
personally I'd tell them they ain't getting Assange when we've finished with him unless they send her back.
Question Author
The main reason Danny is to leverage the US media, they'd be all over this, there'll be TV etc parked outside her house!
// Ludwig, so what was the purpose of the parents going to the USA? //

What TTT said. They want to publicise it. I bet the story was largely unknown over there until they went.
DANNY, I think they refused because they handn't been prepared for the meeting with her there and then.

They may not want to speak to her until she is actually back in the UK so that they are certain she will face a trial.
