Nicola Sturgeon must be borderline certifiable. She's clearly lost the plot. I seem to be using the term 'cognitive dissonance' quite regularly these days to describe a significant number of MPs. Some of them really are straight out of Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four's Ingsoc Inner Party. Two plus two really does equal five these days apparently.
On the one hand, Sturgeon wants Scotland to leave the United Kingdom and be an independent nation. One that makes its own laws and governs its own people; one that is economically and legally independent from Westminster. Yet on the other hand, she wants to be the newest member of the EU. Therefore, she is happy for EU law to have primacy over an independent Scottish judiciary and legislative executive and for Scotland to adopt the Euro and therefore hand over financial control of their currency to the EU.
How on earth does this woman hold these two contradictory ideas in her head and believe them both to be valid?
I fully understand the desire for Scotland to become an independent nation. I personally don't want to see Scotland leave the Union but if that's what the majority of Scots want then that is the road they should go down. But for Sturgeon to then want to join the EU and cede their newly gained independence to the EU just beggars belief.
I actually think that what she wants – an Scottish divorce from the UK followed by an immediate marriage to the EU – goes to show that she has an underlying, visceral hatred of the English. She clearly has no interest in an independent Scotland in reality. What she wants is to figuratively amputate England from Scotland and having done so, sell Scotland down the EU river to further her own political EU goals.
One of those goals – I believe – is to become the next Angela Merkel. Have you noticed how she has completely remodelled herself recently in Merkel's image? It's really weird. She dresses like Merkel, talks like her (albeit in English with a Scottish accent) and cannot sing the praises of the EU loud enough.

" - it's because independence is not the aim, Sturgeon and many Scots have unbridled hatred for England, It's taught in Schools they are brainwashed from an early age. She can probably list all the Scottish combatants at Bannockburn and has a picture of Mel Gibson as William Wallace on her bedroom wall. They don't care who rules them as long as it's not an England dominated UK. Fortunately there are many more moderate Scots, some on here, and it's them that will suffer if this dreadful woman get's different dependence.
you know, never do i get so much reaction from our Scottish friends than when I accuse them of hating us. Methinks they doth protest too much! If you don't hate the English what other possible reason is there to join the EU and be impoverished? England heavily subsidise you, the EU won't, they'll make you build a border and make you join the Euro, assuming they deign to let you in which is by no means certain.

So why do the English on here include me and may like me 70% would be my guess,in their Scotland,England discussions,we don’t want to leave theUK and be tied to the eu that would be ludicrous,so please stop tarring us with the same brush,there will always be an England.
