//Bosses last week warned the lifeboat charity is facing “some major challenges” after making losses of £6.3million last year. But donations to the service are being spent on creches in Bangladesh and swimsuits for Muslim women in Tanzania.

Tory MP Nigel Evans, who sits on the Commons International Development Committee, said the charity is putting its reputation at risk.

He added: “I would say 99 per cent of the British public giving them money do not have the faintest idea it’s diverted to projects overseas.”//

This is one charity I thought was struggling and really needed the money to continue its excellent work around our shores. I certainly wasn’t aware that a proportion of my donations are going overseas. Will this information put this charity’s reputation at risk?

That's disgusting. I think of the money wasted on having to train five replacement volunteers. It would have bought a LOT of burkinis.
Oh, do give up with this inverted snobbery, ve. I don't subscribe to that philosophy. Never have, never will.
Wouldn't it be great if this thread could be sent forthwith by ship's tender to the RNLI Headquarters in Poole.
Email it to them...
Ummm, I have to admit that I wouldn't know how to do that. I know how to send emails, but not from a site like this.

I think that is possibly the first time you've responded to a rational point wth an irrational "rebuttal", Jim.

My criticism was about the remit of charities and honest disposition of their funds.
Every time I donated to the Portrush station I just never presumed in any form, that I was not helping only around our shores, but that the idea of anything other than "local" aid was possible? I have donated to other charities abroad, never thinking they would be donating to the RNLI?
Sanmac - It's just a simple C&P into an email. You don't have to be a member here to read the threads.
Those in peril on the Limpopo or wherever should have the good grace to say 'No, thank you, those donations were made to a national institution not a Stacey Dooley project'.
No, you've been tailing me around a lot lately with the whole set of posts that more or less say "jim thinks we're all stupid". Not just this thread either. Cut it out. I used to enjoy crossing swords with you, ve. I'd love to get back to that.
Had no idea. Shocked.
Right, get it, Jim.
You should have said 'you thicko' at the end of that post, Jim. Lol.
Doh.
Ummmm, I still don't understand. There are four pages, right now, to this thread, and I have no idea how to incorporate them into an email. Perhaps someone else who feels the same way as I do and knows how to do it will do so.
C&P the URL
Sorry, that was really bad instructions on my behalf.

As Mamy says, copy the url but do it when you're on page 1 or it'll open for them on whatever page you copied it from.
you all seem to know each other so I hope you can pull this email off !

You've had another ‘whoosh’ moment there, Jim.

I suppose another question we should be asking is if the charity made losses of £6.3million last year and is laying workers off, why is it spending money abroad?
