Joseph Heller eat your heart out. ;-)
1.5% of the country eh. Impressive.

Was not much doubt it'd get debated though, given the large percentage of folk unwilling to accept not getting their own way and wishing to overturn the decision. But ultimately pointless as it'll just be a discussion that then affects nothing. The government's and parliament's duty is clear and seems on course.
Just to suggest there is still time beforehand. 4 days to respond with a date. Could hold it the following day.
That’s an easy one.

BJ.. OK let’s have a debate on, oh let’s say the day after we come back from the prorogued parliament.

But tbh even if it is done the day after the summer recess all they will do is whine and whinge and say how I fare it is to use a legitimate parliamentary avenue and demand it not happen. BUT we all know these petition led debates are just that. Debates that have no power to do or change anything.
Look out leave voters. If Welby is on your side you’re seriously in trouble. But then you seem to have realised this:

Seen the light, has he ?
Zacs; That was before, when he was more tipping towards remain. Now it's all sorted out in his mind & he has seen sense & the way forward as the UK moves to verdant new pastures.
It was only 4 days ago, khandro. Changes his mind a lot. Or the leavers do. ;-)
No it doesn’t have to be debated, it has to be considered for debate, also its the petition that is debated and not the action. The motion will be along the line of “This house resolves to debate the petition”
from the OP:-
//which means it has to be debated in the House of Commons.//

from the link:-
// Parliament considers all petitions that get more than 100,000 signatures for a debate //

there appears to be a mismatch - unless the word "considers" implies a mandate?
17.4 million voted to leave, 1 million signs a petition! Enough said.

//Which is shut for 5 weeks. :-/ //

It opens next Tuesday (the 3rd Sept.)

That was a quick result. Well done everyone who protested, business as usual in the Commons apparently.
I am sick of the word DEMOCRACY........it has not solved the problem of Brexit in more that under 3 years of "democratic" negotiations and in Honk Kong we are seeing anarchy all in the name of DEMOCRACY.

I am happy with the thought of prorogation if it leads to exiting the EU on October 31st.
Bring it on.
I think Nick Ferrari sums up pretty well, my thoughts on the quality & probity of those wishing to block Boris' valiant work;

Nick Ferrari is bang on, a good summing up of the situation.
Here we go again, all the sore remainers cocking up the country. We could do as Mrs Merton used to say "Lets have a debate" or Harry Hill's " Fight".
The petition is pointless: “Don’t prorogue parliament”
They already have I’m afraid.
The best that can happen is it gets debated in parliament.
Taking up precious time we don’t have.
The decision to prorogue parliament will not be overturned by any court in this country simply because the decision involved HM The Queen. Only minor and constitutional, for sure, but no judge would make any decision that might embarass her maj. Defo. Innit?
