It is not virtuous to invite murderers and rapists into your country.

It is useful because it provides motive, whereas insanity denies responsibility.
It might be possible to defend ourselves if we accept the former, we can do nothing if it's the latter (so it goes on).
What ifs may be of use to you, they aren't to me.
Well, at least you'll be happy with the official version when it comes out
Will I? Is that you guessing ?
I'm not happy when anyone dies because they are pushed under a train by someone who clearly has a mental illness whatever their race/nationality/ religion/ whateveritissomepeoplearetryingto pointscorewith. A child is dead can we not just concentrate on that aspect rather than wildly wave around 'what ifs' all over the place to suit our own agendas?
I tried to give a reasonable answer to your first query but you haven't engaged with it - and this '...guessing' thing going nowhere.
This is a variant (new, but not unique as the first report told us) of killing people by having them run over. It is a method openly advocated by ISIS and copied by many of its sympathisers. Examples: Nice, Barcelona, two London bridges.

So why is Europe importing large numbers of people with an ideology whose adherents are so massively over-represented in urban atrocities? It's perverse, like seeking out the electrical goods manufacturers with the worst record for electrical faults rather than finding out who they are and avoiding them. (To borrow from Prudie short for Prudence's point about toasters).

It is worse than perverse. It means that all the wise monkeys with all the right "thinking", but no functioning sensory organs, on this thread who deny any connection between these novel classes of crime and the culture of the perpetrators are willing to sacrifice any number of their own citizens in order to maintain the their multi-cultural credentials and keep their seat at the Hampstead dinner party. Salman Abedi? Fish him out of the Med, bring him here, feed, house, clothe and educate him. Oops, nail bomb and shattered limbs of teenage girls. Shut up, racist! Libyans? Lovely people.
Calico, spot on.

Professor M - correct I won't engage.
Glad you found something more to your liking Mammyalynne.
Any endeavour to understand, to account for, and establish the truth of begins with "hows" and "whys", and, importantly, "are their any patterns in the thing I'm observing?

This is true of all science. And it ought to be true in of all police and security investigations. And the person who says "You're not allowed to ask that question" is an obscurantist, or doesn't understand science. Or has an agendum.
Another psychiatric "case" then? Are these increasingly regular mental health "incidents" in any way linked to the religion of peace? Are we to expect them to become more commonplace and learn to live with them without comment? When they say that "something must be done" about the mental health dangers, that seem to be about to engulf us, do they mean that they will sort it out by driving us all crazy?
// Are these increasingly regular mental health "incidents" in any way linked to the religion of peace?//

no they are linked more closely to mad people

both muslims and christians, ( and sikhs, and buddlists) can be mad - and I am not sure that one turns out more than another
// on this thread who deny any connection between these novel classes of crime and the culture of the perpetrators //

oh for christ sake take an aspirin will you ?

the first person to die under a train was Huskisson 1823
novel nothing....
Q: Are these increasingly regular mental health "incidents" in any way linked to the religion of peace?

A:both muslims and christians, ( and sikhs, and buddlists) can be mad - and I am not sure that one turns out more than another.

The Q is not about the incidence of psychiatric disorder, it's about the number of urban atrocities, often in novel forms, which are committed and attributed to mental illness.

If we're to take the A at face value (and I suggest we don't given its provenance), then you would expect the "mad terrorists" to be Christian, Muslim, Buddhist or Jain boadly in proportion the percentage of the population each faith accounts for.

Ignore that, wrong thread. Can a Mod delete it please?
Top him, end of
A bit harsh. Anybody can post on the wrong thread, David.

What a disgusting comment. Don't you ever think before posting?
// Don't you ever think before posting?//

I'm sure he does, it's the inability to discriminate among causes and circumstances which is lacking. Or any curiosity about those distinctions.

Surprised, by the way, that Anna Karenina didn't get a mention, although, admittedly half a century after the tragic Huskisson.

There are accidental deaths as in Huskisson; there are real, not just fictional, suicides (a few years ago a young Asian mother threw herself under a train with her child at my local station; and there are cases when throwing people under trains is deliberate.

In the last case you might care to separate those cases where an assassin was out to get a particular person from those cases where, apparently, the identity of the victim was irrelevant.
