Could be very interesting and a precedence of sorts may well be set.
boris ... misconduct ... surely not?
the idea of a politician being charged over (alleged) false statements is new, isn't it? That could empty the Commons quite quickly.
That's been timed well, thank god.
As i said, a precedence may be set. If the case against him is proven, our MPs will have to start telling the truth. Heaven forfend!!
Boris wasted £53Million on the Garden Bridge vanity project, and no misconduct action was brought.
Then he stands next to a lie written on a bus, and he gets his collar felt.
The prisons will start filling with politicians if this case is successful.

It'd be easier to award medals to those that have ever been found to be telling the truth rather than punishing those that have lied.
Recession!! What Recession? Can't be that bad if people can throw £200,000 just for political point scoring. Pathetic.
One has to wonder at this.

Whilst he may be amusing, where does it stop?

Are all the Remainers going to end up in Court of Project Fear? Is every PM going to appear in Court because they lied in their Manifesto?
"Then he stands next to a lie written on a bus, and he gets his collar felt. "

Be careful Gromit, it is not proven in Court yet !
Ymb,

No judgement has been given in Court, but the lie is proven by The UK Statistics Authority.*

https://fullfact.org/europe/350-million-week-boris-johnson-statistics-authority-misuse/

* The UK Statistics Authority is a non-ministerial government department of the Government of the United Kingdom responsible for oversight of the Office for National Statistics, maintaining a national code of practice for official statistics, and accrediting statistics that comply with the Code as National Statistics.
Anyone know who Marcus Ball is?
From Gromit's link.
//£350 million is roughly what we would send to the EU budget if it wasn’t for the UK’s budget rebate.//
So was Boris right after all.Surely before you get a rebate a payment has to be paid first.
//No judgement has been given in Court, but the lie is proven by The UK Statistics Authority.*//

Personally I don't care whether we send just £3.50 a week to the EU - that is £3.50 too much. Why anybody should argue because the true figure is "only" £250m is worth a chuckle. I wonder how many potential Remain votes were lost because of Mr Johnson and his bus.
beloved of the VBQ, never has a statement and a suggestion caused so much distress among those who claim to be English speakers. This is a private prosecution under criminal law that will require a burden of proof that the prosecution have no chance of providing. Just a hissy fit from those determined that we are subservient to the EUSSR machine for ever.
ymb, the difference between making a prediction that doesn't pan out, and misrepresenting facts as they are now, is huge.

It is good to know that whatever figure we no longer send to the EU will all be spent on the NHS instead.
gromit: "It is good to know that whatever figure we no longer send to the EU will all be spent on the NHS instead. " - who said that?

// Boris Johnson has insisted he stands by his controversial claim that Britain sends £350 million a week to the European Union that could otherwise be spent on the NHS. The claim – emblazoned on the side of Mr Johnson’s battlebus during last year’s EU referendum campaign – was denounced by the official statistician as ‘misleading’ and has since been disowned by senior members of the Brexit campaign. //
