If you break into someone's house armed with a screwdriver and they pick up a knife, you're probably in danger of getting stabbed. Personally I minimise the risk of getting into a situation like that by not breaking into people's houses.

Another couple of Thread finishers there Pete, well done.
Fanfare of trumpets now .for our Pair of A/B Heroes .
If he broke into my house and came to grief, I would shed no tears. The world is a better place without people like him.
when I discovered a burglar in my house, I ran out & phoned my OH at work. My kids were in school. My dog chased the burglar out. Police arrived next day (OH called them on the burglary day) & said no fingerprints coz of wood furniture & fittings :/ & confirmed burglar's entrance thru open window. No lives lost & 2 cheap watches stolen - burglar was 20ish.
We've been burgled twice in two different houses, the second time losing treasures that can never be replaced. I absolutely hate burglars. Scum of the earth.
I often think of escape routes if my home is invaded. I have built an annex (laundry add on) for this purpose.
Agree with Naomi , " Burglars are Scum of the Earth "
police are no help & useless!
tamborine, we were out when our houses were burgled. After the second we had locks fitted to all the internal doors so that anyone breaking in was confined to the room they'd broken into and couldn't access the rest of the house.
Actually, the police were very good to us. I have no complaints on that score. They didn't recover our belongings though.
*** nuisance.
My son's house was done on Monday.
spicerack, 'nuisance' isn't a word I'd use to describe them - with or without the asterisks.
" Police are no help and Useless " agree with Tamborine on that one , they are an absolute waste of time unless ,you are speeding or illegally parked , then they come to life.
Prisons are full, prisoner numbers have surged since 1990. They must be full of illegal parkers and speeders.
Cops only ever call here to drop off wayward cattle & horses loose on roads. Owners are always gypsies.
Tambo, get on to your MP. In my area fly grazed horses are dealt with by the council.
council suggest enclosed fields to police and am on the list. Cant refuse gestapo council :(
In my area the horses are rounded up by the council and taken away for sale, adoption or sent to the knackers yard if the owners don't come forward to claim them and pay a hefty fine. We used to have a real problem of fly grazing not just in local parks and open spaces but on verges next to very busy roads and outside a very large hospital. They caused traffic accidents and even injured passers by.

Since this policy was brought in the problem has very nearly disappeared.

Calico - // No andy I'm really sorry but you're not in a position with the greatest respect to tell me how I would feel about something and I can assure you that I would be unaffected. I'd appreciate it if you'd have the courtesy to take my word for that because I find it slightly patronising that anyone else thinks they can speak for me better than I myself can. Thanks. //

Absolutely no need to apologise for holding, and stating your view.

I am of course happy to accept that your view is your own, and we differ, and if I implied any disrespect in my post, it was not intentional, and I am happy to offer my apologies for any offence caused.
gness - // Andy....I can think and I can feel....but I'm not self righteous. //

It was never my intention to include you in the Self-Righteous Brothers - I think I know you better than to think you belong with them!

We agree on many things, and on this occasion we do not, but of course, we each have equal respect for the views of the other - of such attitudes is mature debate conducted.

xx.
