You may remember me posting this link wishing this woman well.

https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1648041.html

She has had the conviction for murder quashed and is now back home.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-47845450

She will now face a new trial and again, I hope that things turn out positively for her.

I have had the benefit of reading the judgements in the original appeal against sentence and the latest one against conviction. I am in two minds about this. They had separated and she had moved out; however, they had reconciled and they had spent the afternoon together at the former matrimonial home. That afternoon, she became suspicious that he was...

Gawd, Pepe le phew has got Challen out in Afghanistan now, under fire, and carrying a semi automatic.
Asking.
//anyone struck with the contrast to the Andy Blackman murder debate?//

Err......No, seeing as how you wasted our time asking.
As Gness has outlined Spath there has been a lot of childish misogyny on this thread prior to you rocking up and presuming I was referring to you before you patronised me by telling me I shouldn't be doing that.Read the flaming thread before coming in guns blazing eh?
I don't know, gness, a lot of male posters here seem quite upset at the thought that an abused wife may batter an abusive husband to death. It just seems to strike a nerve. I am far too polite to hazard any guesses as to why.
There actually does seem to be a real difference between male and female posters here.
intersex violence will do that, I suppose. But personally I sympathise with Ms Challen - and notice that her sons are fully on her side.
I’ll remain polite, Jno. X

On the face of it, Pixie and without researching the history leading to the death I can see why some men are posting as they are. But surely it’s possible for them to do so politely and keeping to the subject under discussion? To discuss it with us without this silliness?
I had noticed that, jno too.
It would be nice, gness.... a little rationality and respect. Anything is possible... xx

3 Statements that are either deliberately or mistakenly erroneous.

@ 21:09,
Do you think maybe they were abused by the murdered husband?
//There actually does seem to be a real difference between male and female posters here.//

If that is reflected in the jury's deliberations they won't be able to return a verdict :-(
It's funny. We wouldn't be having this conversation if the boot was on the other foot. Not one man would defend a man who battered his ex to death with a hammer.
I wouldn't be too sure of that Spicerack.
Jno. You should be banned for your insinuations. Of course, you won't be.
tut, and I was so careful not to make any insinuations. People are sooo sensitive these days.
I think plenty of men would defend another man (rightly btw) who had been subject to 31 years of physical / emotional abuse. The difference is I wouldn't have a problem with them doing so.
Baldric....if you have read up on it fully you will know the answer to your question at 21.14.
Physical abuse? That's a new one. Been reading Mally's fantasy island scenarios, have you?
//I think plenty of men would defend another man (rightly btw) who had been subject to 31 years of physical / emotional abuse//

How very understanding of you Clac. We would of course require corroborative evidence first.....after asking why did you not just get out of the "relationship". We would not however, I think, have much respect for a man who went back with a hammer to beat her brains out after breaking free.
Mally has it spot on, Spicerack. If you familiarise yourself with the history you could contribute your opinion perhaps?
