Seems we may miss it in the East Midlands
The only Freya that I know is a Siamese cat, a very vocal cat.
I don't know why they give us names for our storms - they are pretty pathetic compared to the ones in the rest of the world.
I almost guiltily hope it is bad on Sunday. I have volunteered to litter pick and I'd rather do it on a day when it's not raining at all so hoping for a postponement.
I'd better fetch my washing in!
I`m going on holiday on Sunday evening. I`m just hoping that my incoming aircraft doesn't have a problem getting in as we have an onward flight and we'll be shafted if anything goes wrong.
// The only Freya that I know is a Siamese cat, a very vocal cat.// wasnt it also one of the german radar systems during the war?
I’ve got a Freya - she’s more of a whirlwind than a storm.
yeah Freya is here

the article is a little hard on Chain Home the british system - the German versions were always over-engineered but that doesnt mean they were better.

Chain Home was up and running double quig - and Watson Watt famously was NOT allowed in the control room. Not because they didnt want him to see what he had invented but they didnt want him to see a completely integrated working network with radar at the centre

Yes, I know and they do that in the Caribbean but it just seems (to me) that our storms are just that, storms. I don't know who decided to give them a name and big up their status.
I guess so they are all talking about the same meteorological weather pattern?
I don't remember anyone giving the storm of 1987 a name. It was just a storm. I guess things are different these days.
I blame Brexit.
I remember it well, when I went downstairs and barometer was of scale, then when opening car door got taken out of my hand and this weather forecast the night before.

Spice were we in common market in 1987?
Yes, I do too. I had been clubbing in London and was staying (sleeping on the sofa) at a friend's house in Finchley after a late night out.
I traveled into London the weekend after to visit friends and devastion was still there to be seen with trees down.
