How pathetic is this? Would a series get sued by the COE if they featured a cross or one of the many churches on camera?

I think the series is pretty good to be honest. Looking forward to season 2.

Hmmmm, a cross? I doubt it. On the other hand, a drawing of Mohammed .....
They do have a point, spath. The 2 images are almost identical so can only be intentional.
they may have a point but is it worth thirty eight million quid in damages?

Surely only Satan himself can sue?
Question Author
Yes, i'm sure the satanic reputation is really tarnished....
ael; their lawyers will no doubt have set that target knowing full well they won't get anywhere near that. However, if they get just a third of it, it's still a tidy sum.
spath; "Surely only Satan himself can sue?" Only if Satan himself designed the statue:-)
Question Author
If the issue is false representation then surely this indicated that Satanics don't actually get the concept of fiction? Ironic ay...
if he was dyslexic he might sue santa too
Question Author
lol
the dispute seems to be over the use of an image that Satan Inc say they have copyrighted. Judging by the photos, they're in the right.
It's Baphomet not Satan. You know, the one that the Knights Templar were accused of worshipping. And the group is able to sue for defamation of the group, as they claim they aren't as shown in the film, but it is implied they are due to the film's use of their statue's image.
I'm a Satanic dyslexic, Banana, i worship the Drivel :-)
Question Author
Is baphomet not a satanic deity? The king of hell?
Question Author
Baphomet was depicted in Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie, 1856 so anyone around in todays day and age surely has no rights over the depiction?
I assume they've copyrighted it the way you would copyright a logo or brand name. If Sabrina faced a demonic Micky Mouse, Disney would be down on her like a ton of bricks.
Question Author
Well i hope in court the judge just laughs, and all this does is give publicity to the (in my opinion) pretty good series.
They are far from 'pathetic', they are quite right to sue, plagiarism of an artists work has to be taken seriously. Jeff Koons was last week in Paris found guilty of it and has had to cough up;

Question Author
plagiarism is taking someones work and passing it as your own.. Sabrina is clearly showing that this is a statue belonging to Satanist
//plagiarism is taking someones work and passing it as your own.. //

No, that would be false attribution. Plagiarism is taking another person's thoughts, writings or inventions, etc. copying and/or modifying them and pretending it was your original work.
