the French police who are no mean wimps, should have cleared them off the road, its absurd that this was allowed to happen, even more so in Finsbury park, where i saw the same....
TTT - I would not have thought, at this stage, that you needed reminding of the basic rules of on-line debate, but it appears that you do.

//ok I'll play, I said they should not be allowed to block the road, you accused me of intolerance, de facto they should. //

Firstly, the term 'de facto' is not appropriate in this context -

"In law and government, de facto (/deɪ ˈfæktoʊ/ or /di ˈfæktoʊ/;[1] Latin: de facto, "in fact"; Latin pronunciation: [deː ˈfaktoː]) describes practices that exist in reality, even if not legally recognised by official laws.[2][3][4] It is commonly used to refer to what happens in practice, in contrast with de jure ("in law"), which refers to things that happen according to law. Unofficial customs that are widely accepted are sometimes called de facto standards."

So maybe best not to chuck in fancy phrases if you don't actually know what they mean, and where their use is appropriate.

I did not accuse 'you' of anything at all, and even if I had, that does not mean that I say that people should be allowed to block the road.

As I have said, and will repeat, that is a conclusion that you have reached in your own mind, not based on anything at all that I have posted on this thread.

If I think people should be allowed to block the road, I will say so, if I don't say that, it is because it is not my view, and it is not for you to decide that it is, and then argue with me about it.

// So if you are not saying that should be allowed to block the road, what are you saying? So should they be allowed to block the road or not? simple question. //

As advised, I made no mention of road blocking, but since you have asked for my view, and it is indeed a simple question, my view is that no, they should not be allowed to block the road.
The picture in the linked article was taken in November 2017 when French politicians were protesting over Muslim street prayers in Paris.

I agree that no one should be allowed to block either the highway or the pavement.
great waffle Andy, should they be able to block the road, yes or no?
Read Andy's last sentence.
ok Andy, you agree with me, so why am I intolerant? If I am you must be too.
Tora - // ok Andy, you agree with me, so why am I intolerant? If I am you must be too. //

You really do need to start paying attention, and reading posts before replying to them, that way you won't look like you don't know what you are talking about.

From my post at 16:18 to you -

//I did not accuse 'you' of anything at all …//

Are we clear now?

Hope so.
TTT - // great waffle Andy … //

It's not waffle, you should read it, and then read it again, and hopefully digest what it says.

//should they be able to block the road, yes or no? //

Again from my post at 16:18 -

// As advised, I made no mention of road blocking, but since you have asked for my view, and it is indeed a simple question, my view is that no, they should not be allowed to block the road.

If you read what is there, and not would you would like to be there, so you can get het up and fall out over it, we can stop clogging the thread up with this nonsense.
but when I said they should not be allowed to block the road you accused me of intolerance, right? But you say above you agree with me so are you not also intolerant by the same token?
andy-hughes, //Good to see that tolerance is alive and well on the AB today … //

Sooo .... that^ didn't mean you think someone/everyone here is intolerant?
TTT - // but when I said they should not be allowed to block the road you accused me of intolerance, right? But you say above you agree with me so are you not also intolerant by the same token? //

We are going round in circles, so let me stop this now before it derails the thread entirely.

I have not accused you of anything at all - please re-read my posts and look at what I have actually said, and not what you want me to have said so you can argue with me, pointlessly to the point of tedium.

This is my last post on this aspect of the thread.
I think AH has been to ZM's nailing jelly to the wall academy!
Naomi - // andy-hughes, //Good to see that tolerance is alive and well on the AB today … //

Sooo .... that^ didn't mean you think someone/everyone here is intolerant? //

Apart from the double negative - yes it does mean that I think that some people on this thread are intolerant - I think that was pretty clear, despite Tora's wilful determination to misunderstand what I said.
TTT - // I think AH has been to ZM's nailing jelly to the wall academy! //

Who is 'ZM' please?
back to the thread,
if civil war comes, do you think many British Asians, Afro/Caribbean would fight for this country, because in all honesty i don't. You can't make a point about those who served and died in WW1, WW2, as there was an empire then, which we effectively don't have now.
Andy - It's Zacsmaster.
the same argument could be lobbed at other countries, like France with large Asian/African populations.
andy-hughes, well you've set the bar rather low yourself with your lack of tolerance for blocking roads - so what do you expect other people to tolerate?
Emmie, I couldn't begin to guess how many from any section of the population would volunteer these days, unless you meant conscription?
ummmm - // Andy - It's Zacsmaster. //

Thanks!
