Good. To outlaw Lawyers and activists from helping asylum seekers is an affront to Western values, or do you think otherwise? Shame no-one could do it to Germany in the 30's.

I think all nations have a right to enforce their own borders as they see fit. Not be bullied by a twisted ideological bloc with delusions of it's own importance, staffed by arrogant un elected corrupt officials like barmpot and juncket. Hungary must have qualified as a civilised nation to be allowed entry in the first place. Bet they are ruing the day!
Might be to your values, kval.
Normal people, meh, not so much.
Which is the evil empire? Hungery or EU?

Tbh any answer that doesn’t totally agree and allow illegal migrants cart blanch and an avalanche of legal help to stay will be seen as inherently racist.

No, no it won't, it's fine to have rules about immigrants and refugees, what is not fine is to attempt to circumvent European Law by trying to deny them advice. THAT is not okay and I don't give a monkey's chuff what anyone says that is absolutely wrong.
As usual, Nige is spot on.
I would just not give free legal aid to anyone who isn’t a resident or citizen. Governments shouldn’t be paying lawyers so Start a charity willing to fund them with no government or central funding.

I would have strict criteria for allowing residency for migrants.

I would not have a system whereby a legal (and definately not an illegal) migrant can then bring family unless they are able to provide for them.

I would curb the endless appeals system. Apply, appeal, out if you lose stay if you win.

Anyone found re-entering the country who had already been denied a right to stay would not get a right to legal aid even paid for by a charity and would be deported within a week.
Corrouprion in Hungary is on par with Nigeria. They are an embarrassment. They may be the flag wavers of far right populism, but unfortunately they are bent as nine bob notes.

Now that’s a different story Gromit. Corruption should be addressed but is it up to the EU to do that?

Surely that is down to the people to do something.
' THAT is not okay and I don't give a monkey's chuff what anyone says '

Sigh....Perhaps if you did, you might learn something, kval.
I won't be around to mentor you forever, toots.
On the possible implementation of article 7 ‘However, because this step has never been taken before, it is not clear what will happen next, or when.’

Remind anyone of anything?

Maybe we have another article 50 candidate...
Some people obviously like living in Hungary :-)
Many tho have voted with their feet ...
Immigration is only part of it: corruption and press censorship is at least as important.
“To outlaw Lawyers and activists from helping asylum seekers is an affront to Western values,…”

If they were asylum seekers, that is. I believe that the current invasion of Europe by mainly young male economic migrants, those values may need revisiting.

“….what is not fine is to attempt to circumvent European Law…”

So let’s not pick and choose, then. European law states that “asylum seekers” must apply for asylum in the first country they enter. This is rarely, if ever, Hungary.
“….what is not fine is to attempt to circumvent European Law…”

Fortunately for us the UK is about to do just that.
kvalidir, //To outlaw Lawyers and activists from helping asylum seekers is an affront to Western values, or do you think otherwise? //

No ... but these are, in the main, not asylum seekers.

//Shame no-one could do it to Germany in the 30's.//

You need to think about that - seriously.
"THAT is not okay and I don't give a monkey's chuff what anyone says that is absolutely wrong."

The oracle has spoken and the debate is now over - may as well close this thread.
