dannyk, you need to be aware that not all the Halal slaughtered meat in Tesco and all supermarkets is marked as Halal.
ALL NZ lamb is Halal and the majority of it is unmarked as such in the supermarkets.
A lot of unmarked chicken is Halal, too.

This is because there is a lot more to Halal meat than the slaughter method, so while the cuts Muslims will eat may be marked as Halal and stored and transported separately from other meats, the rest of the animal is not labelled as Halal.

New Zealand lamb is slaughtered using the Halal method because their biggest customers are Middle Eastern and it makes economical sense. They insist all the animals are pre-stunned.

So, just because the meat and poultry isn't being sold in the Halal aisle with a Halal label do not assume it is not Halal

jth; //Brietbart take a story of backyard-butchering in Dagenham and conflate it with barbaric practices elsewhere on the globe complete with gory pictures.//

Err.. I think the idea is to oppose the cruel slaughter of animals, whether it is Dagenham or Pakistan. Something I and many others wish to support and broadcast as widely as possible.
You, are obviously unconcerned about this barbaric practice, 'backyard-butchering in Dagenham' being a mere trifle, that is unless you, like a couple of others on this thread, simply wish to play the tiresome game of devil's advocate.
We don't know if there is any barbaric slaughtering going on in Dagenham, Khandro.
Don’t forget that ‘butchering’ in the context of this article means cutting up the carcase. It doesn’t mean killing the animal. I am sure you know that but it sounded from your last post as though you did not.
Back to the thread then.
//Authorities have confirmed that environmental health officials are investigating after they were sent footage of a family chopping up animal carcasses on a tarpaulin outside their house in Dagenham.
Neighbours alerted the council after they saw large quantities of raw meat being hacked in the backyard of a residential address in the London borough//

Wonder if the hygiene police will get on thes case?

Meanwhile in France...…….and probably heading your way.

// Err.. I think the idea is to oppose the cruel slaughter of animals //

I read the article and did not see any sign of breitbart opposing it, simply reporting it and linking it other incidents elsewhere,
I see that some have decided to defend the unnecessary butchery in a residential back garden. Wonder what the view would be if I decided to pluck and prepare a few dozen turkeys this Christmas...….you know as part of the festive ritual? Bet questions would be asked about my disposal methods of any waste, whether I had food handling proficiency certification etc. etc.
Khandro - You obviously failed to read my comment at 14.31 why I lay my cards firmly on the table regarding both halal and kosher animal-slaughter.

Breitbart has deliberately juxtaposed the article regarding the Dagenham (where there is no evidence of any sort of slaughter, halal or otherwise) backyard food preparation with horrifying pictures of animal slaughter from elsewhere in the globe. The addition of those photographs certainly adds a little more *spice* to the Dagenham non-event, doesn't it?
I'm surprised at the French police. Wasn't a woman jailed for protesting against public ritual slaughter a couple of years ago.
Perhaps they've woke up.

ichi; There is fresh blood on the knife and in any case, would you be so relaxed if this kind of thing was taking place in your neighbour's garden?
The report says people have complained, and so they should - this is taking place in London, England and Paris.
Togo, there is nothing wrong in my view of butchering your own turkey at Christmas, no different to buying game birds undrawn and hanging and preparing them yourself.

If you meant slaughtering, such a practice in any back garden is abhorrent.
Does all this daily carp regarding muslims and multiculturalism indicate that we are living in a diverse society or in a divisive society?
It’s obvious that a couple of people are failing to differentiate between slaughtering and butchering. In fairness to the original article there is no confusion there.

Yes, Brigitte Bardot led a campaign years ago, but it continues, because we are 'multicultural' and dare not speak up , it's racism you see?
There are issues with certain practices without question but a lot of the divisiveness is stirred up by websites like Breitbart with their selective news agenda. One can almost sense the slobber from salivating alt right lips
This argument shouldn’t be about the method of slaughter but about the reason for the slaughter in this instance. We have people in this country engaging in ritual sacrifice. I'd hazard a guess if this report applied to Satanists there would be fewer supporting posts.
Well I didn't mean plucking them alive. Answer the hygiene question. Do you thing that all that meat was for a residential family meal or were they supplying to other consumers?
I have no idea who it was for, Togo
I’d imagine the reason for the slaughter was so they could eat the meat.
At a guess.
No the reason is a sacrifice to their God. Eating it afterwards is a by-product.
