Teenage girl simply asserting her rights to jump about, her entitlement to take a police officer’s taser from him, and what did the brute do? He slapped her!

String ‘em up, I say.

Was this sometime in your long career as a policeman?

Thought Wednesday was Dannys day off .
So you weren't in the force and have no experience of trying to deal with an out of control wildcat of a female?
my oh ex detention officer, has been in this situation where he was often kicked, spat at, scratched

danny, no problem for Spath. A word in her ear and they ended up dancing gently around a Maypole together.

A ‘Lady’ of her build? Leaving aside the misused ‘lady’, it seems that some here have never tried to physically restrain a 14-year-old in full fighting mode.

Ever tried holding down a 5kg cat at the vets? Multiply many-fold - you too would give her a slap!
Quite so Bainbrig.
spath, is it only British police you're against? I'm wondering as you didn't even comment on the three American policemen who tasered an 87 year old lady.

When dannyk and me are in agreement I suspect I might be in the wrong.
Bainbrig, lol
indeed, ozzy, whole films have been made about the shame felt by policemen at losing their weapons. I don't recall that any of them ended with the cop in question redeeming himself by pulling a girl's hair.
Jno, the officer did not lose his taser.

I taught Self-Defence for a while after leaving RMs, including at some Police Social Clubs (still do if the offer is ok) there are of course Techniques which are well tried and tested along with the unwritten rule, "do whatever you need to do and preferably get it in first"
It's the Real World out there, sometimes it's just not a nice place to be.
Exactly Balders, there are situations where it is either impossible or impracticable to use a 'technique'
"do whatever you need to do and preferably get it in first"

Couldn't agree more, was taught that by my late father (ex-army)

I know a (very) little bit about this as I did NHS basic training in the management of challenging behaviour. In many ways it's easier to deal with someone of bigger height and build as there is less risk of permanently injuring the patient. The analogy of the 5kg cat is a good one. They can use every ounce of strength, also teeth, claws and so on, you are restricted to what is safe, measured and humane.
