Danny,

\\Rockrose //How can you be charged with an alleged crime//
All crimes are alleged until proved by a court of law.//

They've been charged by a court of law haven't they so the crimes are not alleged
danny, //All crimes are alleged until proved by a court of law. //

Not so. The police know the crimes were committed ... there's no doubt about that. The court will decide whether or not the people charged are guilty or otherwise.
Rockrose, charged does not mean proven.Until they are found guilty the offences remain alleged.

/// Only a suggestion AOG.If you really want to know contact the relevant police force. ///

/// Contact a lawyer, how does anyone here know the reason
why? ///

The usual answers one has come to expect from those who are not very happy that such news is reported on.

Mind you they have had to endure the reporting of a terrorist attack and these child fiddlers all in the same week.

Not much support for their Liberal agenda.
Danny, I see know, charged but not found guilty yet.
Naomi //Not so. The police know the crimes were committed ... there's no doubt about that.//
The police know that the crimes were committed but can only allege who committed them. Please take my word for it as an ex policeman.
Not in the least bit unhappy that these crimes are being investigated and reported on, indeed I went to the bother of finding the link for the OP.

I simply cannot understand the scrabbling about at the finer details that the law has deemed fit to withhold.

I shall await the outcome.
Leeds, Bradford, Rotherham, Huddersfield. Yorkshire is a cess pit of depravity, and the indigenous Yorkshire folk have stood by or turned a blind eye in the name of diversity for years. Shame on them. When it blows it will be excruciating.
Togo, What a load of rubbish.
What a ridiculous generalisation of people from Yorkshire - shame is all yours.
Thanks mamya and danny but I think Togo meant 'some' Yorkshire folk have stood by and watched this happen, and he's probably right. Maybe he'll confirm my defence of him rather than leaving us to be boggled by his apparent sweeping generalisation?
danny, //The police know that the crimes were committed but can only allege who committed them.//

That's what I said.
Naomi, then why did you say " not so" to my post at 15.00?
danny, because you said, "All crimes are alleged until proved by a court of law."

The crimes are not alleged...
Naomi, The crimes are alleged until it has been established that one has been committed.
danny, that can't be right. If someone's found with his head chopped off, the police know a crime has been committed. Allegations don't come into it.
In those circumstances probably not but if he had his head bashed in then then you could not say that a crime had been committed until the circumstances were investigated. This is my last post on the matter.
"Contact a lawyer, how does anyone here know the reason why [they haven't been named]?

There is a multitude of possible reasons. The most usual is that of the age of the defendants themselves. But anything which might lead to the identity of minors will cause the judge to order their names be withheld. More than that, there could be reasons why, if they are identified in the press, they may not receive a fair trial.

The "alleged" vs "actual" is interesting. It is my view that all charges are "allegations" until proven. If you visit a a court you will see the participants (advocates, judges and magistrates) careful to ensure that the charges remain "alleged" during trials. You will hear them speak of the "alleged victim" and the "alleged perpetrator" (among other things). The only time you will not hear that is when the Crown is putting its case. You will then hear (for example) "The Crown says that Joe Bloggs assaulted Bert Higgins. We say that he hit him over the head with a bottle."
You have to differentiate between "a crime has been committed" and Fred Bloggs committed the crime.
where is spath to tell us this isn't TROP again?
