So why then spath if the KKK no longer hang black people (thank God) are you comparing them with the islamic nutters who amongst many, many other atrocities throw homosexuals from high buildings STILL???
spath, part of the reason that people are demonstrating against Trump is because of his perceived Islamophobia so discussion of that is relevant to the thread. No need to make excuses to people who try to shut others up for the sake of it. Carry on. The conversation seems to be flowing quite nicely.
spath at 16:10, if that was in response to me, no, you haven't explained - and I haven't a clue what that image is or what it's meant to be telling me.
The fact is Trump appears to be doing many of the things ‘leftie anti-Americans (who I assume are the target here) have always wanted’ ie: threatening at least to withdraw from NATO. Recoiling into his own backyard etc. And many of the things that people find objectionable about the man are things that are nothing to do with US policy in the world. A lot of it is his hatred of women, outsiders, the press, etc. Things likely to unite a lot of Americans against him here as well as in the US.
His divisiveness transcends the traditional transatlantic differences :-)
I'm a non-Trump supporting American...I think I'll sit tight down here in the West Country. I will warn my London dwelling daughter though...

Spath, you don’t know, do you.
Trump does many things and stands for many things of which people do not approve....there is so much more to discuss than his (or any) perceived Islamophobia surrounding his Presidency, but there are those who are so preoccupied with Islam that they simply cannot believe others are not similarly completely consumed, and are thus unable to resist dragging it into almost every discussion.
It is quite useful to try and steer a conversation away from their obsession and try to discuss other aspects of the issue before it becomes completely impossible to respond to the given thread.
jackthehat, //there are those who are so preoccupied with Islam that they simply cannot believe others are not similarly completely consumed//

You seem to add your two-pennyworth on a fairly regularly basis - even if it is only to complain. People will discuss what they want to discuss.
-- answer removed --
Yes, of course they will.

I'm only saying that perhaps those appearing slightly more bombastic about the issue don't have to be indulged.
Pasta....I can knit you and your daughter blingy balaclavas if you like......x
spath at 16:19 BUT they don't do it any more, unlike the nutters of islam, who still DO!! That's the difference and it's a big one.

I see jth is still spouting the same old rubbish!
jackthehat, no one has to be indulged. Contributors indulge others by choice.
Americans Advised To Keep A Low Profile

A difficult task, just as difficult for vegans not mentioning they are a vegan.
Responding to the OP. I feel ashamed of some of my countrymen, in that they would insult the P.O.T.U.S., which belittles all of us. If they don't approve of this particular President the answer is simple - ignore him. What has happened to people? Moderation, decency, simple politeness; have all these qualities been lost? :(
I have no wish to belittle you, J.......but as it goes....

Evil will triumph if good men do nothing..... and he is evil.....x
^Crikey! Sanctimonious philosophical proselytising and exaggerated condemnation all on one hit! I guess that’s the sort of bombastic post jackthehat was talking about at 16:30.
I’m reminded of the Spike Milligan comment
“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all the people some of the time, which is just long enough to be president of the United States. ”
oh Gawd ! as one of our deeper thinkers says
