Apart from a couple on the front row, all the others are "FAT" in the modern NHS photograph.

Where is the leader (Matron)?

They look, in their uniforms that they work for Kwikfit and will change your tyres.

Not a good advert frt the modern nursing profession......OR..perhaps it is?

All angels of messy though Squad, it matters not what they look like providing that they are dedicating in what must be a difficult job.

Must admit though, with all this NHS campaign against obesity it is very rare that one sees a slim nurse, amongst the females that is.
"mercy"
That's rubbish, AOG.

AOG....yes, I get your take on it, but there is more to the art of medicine than being "Angels of Mercy" in that in my opinion, attitude, looks and uniform are indeed important, indication a degree of devotion and discipline.
The obesity in nurses is indeed worrying.
I am a slim and fairly fit oldie. Not long ago, I was given advice on healthy living by an overweight practice nurse!
The uniform certainly doesn't do the profession any favours. And as for the obesity, I would have thought it was a difficult enough job hefting patients around without all the extra flab- it's sad.
Milo2- Absolutely- Why is it that it's always the podgy doctors etc who advise weight loss?!

Hazi^^^ LOL.
Hazi, I found it quite amusing.
what about hygiene or dentist assistants with hellitosis.giving an 80 year old advice on how to brush his teeth.
They are there to DO good, not LOOK good, imvho.
Agree, Ken, I couldn't give two hoots how fat a nurse is when she's putting in my drip.
Obesity within the public sector goes a long way towards reducing pension payouts further down the line...I think its called strategic planning.
We're all better, in the sense of more choice and larger plates, fed these days. Plus most jobs are less physically active. The photograph simply reflects that. Scrubs are fine; I trust they're more hygenic than starched whites. Certainly more convenient.
ummmm

/// That's rubbish, AOG. ///

Judging by most of the other ABer's observations, I think it is you that is talking rubbish or go about with your eyes closed.
I recently spent a week in hospital and none of the nurses treating me were "FAT"
Question Author
Ken/ummmm...that attitude is fine whilst everyone is happy and things are going well with your health management, but when things turn nast and when litigation looms, these "Angels of Mercy" take on a different role and it may well be that their presentation, does become an issue.
I don't see how, Sqad.
The photo suggests your experience was the exception rather than the rule, ummmm.
Question Author
No I didn't think that you would.
