I don't suppose they'll be prosecuting those without tickets that forced their way in, will they?

///He estimated 150 to 200 fans passed through his turnstile without tickets, tickets for the wrong end, or jumped or “tailgated” in.

However, he said this was a guess, including fans he let in because of the crush, and accepted figures shown by Christopher Williams QC, representing bereaved families, which showed he overestimated this amount by 65%.///

rowanwitch: "Back in those days it was possible that fans had tickets but the entry systems were overwhelmed. I think its a shame that people cant accept that even if some in the group were less than perfect it was innocent people including children who died horribly that day." - I do accept that but to blame one copper trying his best when clearly ticketless fans contributed to the disaster is wrong.

"Are you a Man united supporter TTT if so you would do well to remember Liverpool's response to your clubs greatest tragedy " - no I'm not even a soccer fan really. Played by a bunch of big girls blouses who need a stretcher when they fray an eyelash.
Question Author
Yes JTT he also thought his turnstile was going to be pushed over, there where 30+ turnstiles x 150-200, do the math.
Would you prefer that we based our inferences on what he said in the earlier paragraphs, or the latter ones, where he has revised his statement?
Question Author
ok so can we be clear, you are saying that there were no fans at all without tickets? correct?
I am saying that ticketless fans were not responsible for the tragedy.

Is that clear enough?

I'm sure that you and I have discussed this issue enough times over the years for you absorbed that.....
*to have...
Question Author
it's just that earlier someone stated: "An inquest 4 years ago found that there was no evidence of unticketed fans." - clearly there were some therefore they should also be prosecuted too.
I trust those bereaved at Heysel will receive justice post-haste too then?

Just askin’.....
Question Author
I doubt it chill
Why is it 'clear' that there were some?

Just because the turnstile operative didn't actually check every single person had a ticket you assume that they didn't have any?

Funny how the word of a 'frightened' 19-year old carries more weight in your mind than the full, properly tested evidence given at the inquests.
But as it matches your spurious notion that 'ticketless fans' are to blame, I don't suppose it is, really....
Hiya, chill, I was wondering how long it would be before you popped up with that old chestnut.

I'll post it again and hope you read it this time.....

so there are zero then? right oh!
I posted a link on the previous page and Corby quoted from it - here it is again.

//'[Lord Justice Taylor] accepted there were "small groups without tickets" looking to "exploit any chance of getting into the ground". But the main problem was simply one of "large numbers packed into the small area outside the turnstiles". He stated categorically that "fans' behaviour played no part in the disaster".'//

Right oh?

Yeah, that goes without saying Spath,

Oops, ^^^ wrong thread
Poor planning, Poor policing, Dangerous policy of fencing in fans , and wholly inadequate response.

Thanks for the link. As its Wiki you’ll understand me taking it with a tiny pinch of salt.

Maybe this link will let everyone decide if justice is and was indeed served.

The irony is that it’s the behaviour of Liverpool’s fans in that disaster that led to football fans being treated as they subsequently were in this country.

As a colleague of mine said recently:
There’s a reason the 96 will not be forgotten.

Guilt will do that to you.

That’s not to say that a lot of innocent people died needlessly but the Police did not set out to maim and kill that day, they just made the wrong choices in difficult circumstances and prosecutions at this stage just prolong the suffering.
It’s done, let it rest.
Tora you clearly have your mind made up on the responsibilities for this tragedy, and where they lie, so no amount of argument in here is going to sway you in your opinion.

It don't think that due legal process equates to 'hanging drawing and quartering' anyone, but again, you wish to see 'scapegoats' so you see them, and that is that.

Which suggests that you posted this simply so you could rant at people who try and provide evidence that your view is incorrect - which is clearly a waste of time because you refuse to be convinced.

Which in turn beggars the question - why post this in the first place?
