It clearly is not possible to be in the present CU and not be in the EU. It is possible to be in it, and inevitably in the EU as a result, but have the paperwork deceptively show you've left the EU. That is the worst scenatio some are trying for.
The cabinet won't be able to agree whilst the PM is forever making concessions, so she needs to be guided by ministers who have a better grip on what a red line is.

Couldn’t agree more with Kendra about the poor infrastructure in Ireland before the EU took over their country. Why would they want to leave?
The NI issue is of course difficult when one side doesn’t want to play reasonably. The simple fact is the EU is protectionist and will fight tooth and nail to make sure they get and maintain those protections. Therefore it is little wonder the remainders are shouting about how difficult it is.

Don’t be stupid. The remainers aren’t saying it is difficult. It it the Tories who are unable to deliver Brexit because they are a Train wreck of a Government. The Cabinet are as mad as a box of frogs and completely disfunctional. Add a very weak leader, and it is mo surprisethat Brexit is going off the rails.
Brexit is an opportunity for a politician, not a problem. They have the golden opportunity to write the template for leaving the EU which other countries could follow.

To explain it again, the problem is caused by the EU, the UK is happy to retain the soft border; so the problem isn't it's, but the EU's; or more specifically the RoI's. The RoI needs to find a solution with or without their EU masters. Without clearly works, and remaining with won't be so comfortable after the budget drops, so proving themselves to be worthy of the title 'nation', and taking back responsibility for their country, must be worth considering.

Few people in Ireland and certainly very few around the border, see why their lives should be turned upside down by what is effectively England declaring UDI. So called ‘independence’ for the UK is actually putting huge strain on that union.
I think gromit’s being a bit unfair to the government: delivering Brexit was always going to be a nightmare. Trying to fulfil the wishes of ‘the people’ when no one is entirely sure what they they want, with a goodly number of the cabinet realising the whole thing is daft, and the others trying to impose their fantasy of an ‘independent’ Britain.
