It seems obvious to me, that if more material is used in the making of these larger size garments, one should expect them to cost more.

No it is not all about women, but seeing as the article you posted related to women, it's reasonable that that is what has been debated.
I was responding to the posts above by ladies.
Mamy for goodness sake remember rule number 1 "If it isnt going your way, start a completely irrelevant and facetious argument".

This is how it works in News............
I can see the logic, even though it would cost me a lot more, but it could be the thin end of a wedge. I take my coffee black so should I pay less than the person who takes milk and sugar?
What logic is that?

Forgot that rule Barmaid.
I have only just started being able to shop in 'normal' shops and even then I can't always find something to fit as I am above 'normal' still - I still get comments as I am still large but now I know that I will fit in clothes.
I actually walked out of a store last week as I picked up an item for a wedding later on in the year - it was 2 sizes 2 small and the shop assistant at the till said 'madam I'm afraid this won't fit you - would you like to return it now'?
I proceeded to tell her it was really none of her business and that I was now leaving the store and would never step foot in it again!! Her manner as she said it was smirking and quite nasty! Body shame I should think so!
Staff training not working there for sure Islay, poor service.
very
I know, it's hard on guys too. The good thing is they are statistically more likely to be successful if they do try to lose weight.
That was a bit presumptious, Islay. COuld have been a gift for someone.
exactly although she may have heard me say to my friend I would slim into it!

That point has been made and many customers would do that, if they were aware that across the floor the garment was cheaper in the main range - it however still begs the questions, why?

That is why they are changing their policy.

That is why customers need to speak out.
Well canny shoppers do, Spath. But you dont always realise that the same thing is available at a lower price without the "Name" on it. Mamy cracked it earlier, it's about honesty.

I know a man who takes size 3X. He has never considered it unfair that he has to pay more for his clothes.

I notice it with anything that 'fits' the shoulders, I have to buy XXX, not because I'm over weight, at 66 I still have a 32" waist, but because I've worked out for years and have rather large shoulders.
My husband was very large on the shoulders and bought from large ranges, which are a little more expensive.

The difference in the case quoted is that some garments are in both ranges.
Having been, at my largest, a size 30 to 32 in an age of retailers not stocking clothes in larger sizes or if they did they were just shapeless tents, there is now a plethora of retailers stocking plus sizes. So if you’re not happy with the pricing go somewhere else.

I don’t disagree with larger sizes costing more but they do have to be reasonable price hikes.

As already said the cost could be due to fabric (size 30 is a hell of a lot bigger than a size 14 that I am now) but could also be due to demand. Although the country as a whole is getting fatter they don’t all want to look like an elephant squashed into leopard skin tight leggings (although walking down the high street there is a lot of them...).

As an aside do these fat women think.... no I’m not going to go there.
