No doubt you would want the accomplice to get trauma therapy. Get real. They broke into someone's property and wanted to relieve him of goods he had probably worked hard for and you are feeling sorry for them. No sympathy whatsover and dogooders like you make me so mad. He got what he deserved.

Spath...are you saying you wouldn't do anything to protect your wife?

Tell me...how would you try to stop the situation......and if by accident your efforts to stop the situation resulted in the.....not planned or deliberate...but accidental death of a man intent on robbing you and because he had a weapon hurting you......would you consider yourself a murderer?

Oh stop feeling terrible, Spath......for all you know this man may have saved the lives of an innocent family by preventing an armed burglar from going on to do more damage with his screwdriver.....

And any man holding a pint of Guinness in each hand is a good man by me......x
I love the elderly. I have unlimited respect for my nan and grandads, however, if they had their homes broken into, and i discovered one of my grandads had killed a man due to this.. I would honestly be mortified. Spath.

Eh? As opposed to what?? How would you have felt finding your relative dead in bed with a screwdriver buried deep in their chest and the perpetrator had made off with their valuables to boot??
Me? I’d be ecstatic that my elderly relative had survived and hoped they hadn’t suffered too much trauma!
You really haven’t considered any of your answers properly, have you?

//i’d just rather the situation not arise at all! //

As would we all ... but situations do arise and that's what is being discussed.
If it happened as we are told, he shouldn't be charged with anything. It is right and proper though that the police do what they can to ensure it did happen as we are told.
Sorry too early for me, I didn't mean 'ensure' - you know what I meant :)

gawd, if hand-wringing was an Olympic sport, spath would win the gold. One less piece of thieving scum, rejoice man! In my opinion, if you go tooled up into someone's home prepared to steal and do violence you should wave any protection under the law. If this was the US they'd have blown his head off, no questions asked. Now we often criticise the US but they don't sipp about like this.
Thankfully, the pensioner has been released.
At least now Police can concentrate their resources on finding the real criminal i.e. the other would-be burglar who fled the scene.
Yes, is there a description of him?

Or even a phot and name as he must have been known to the deceased violent thief.
I have absolutely no sympathy for this burglar whatsoever. Good riddance - breaking into people's homes is not just about stealing material items, it can traumatise people for years and make them want to leave their homes. This aspect seems often forgotten - all burglars are scum however desperate they are.
Yep....I've been burgled twice, one quite recently, both times we were in the house. It's very traumatic.
The ( dead burglar ) was wanted by the police anyway. And pensioner Mr Osborn - Brooks has been bailed until May.

Good. Let's hope this victim doesn't have to suffer any more trauma by being prosecuted for something.

Unfortunately the law is more concerned with the 'rights' of the trespasser rather than the occupier these days.
