At the very bottom of the article.

\\But earlier this week the Social Market Foundation think tank suggested it would cost £90bn just to renationalise the water industry.//

Where will Labour get this?
Question Author
dunno webbo, McDonut says it won't cost a bean, hence my question. perhaps a Labour supporter can explain.
Mikey, Mikey, are you there...................?
They will get the £90 billion from Corbyn's magic money tree of course.
I think I heard John McDonnell say it'll cost nothing because they'll issue bonds- presumably to shareholders t replace their shares. I am struggling to see how that works.
I also struggle to see how local cooperatives can be set up to run the trains, postal services, utilities...
A mature money tree is years away.

Cuttings have only just been taken from the bigot bailout bush.
At this rate we are going to need an "is/are xxx "simply" rule like the "so" rule.
Fairly scary that the only opposition to the Cons think this way. It’s like the 70s never happened.
Question Author
they would love to go back to the 70s "sick man of Europe" - it is thinking like that that gave rise to TGL. I wonder if they realise that they are in effect her architects. Cheers lads!
Cometh the hour cameth the Lady. Marvellous woman.
I heard them say it will cost nothing because they will just pick them up when the franchises come to an end and they will pay for themselves because they are money making businesses. Therefore will generate a profit from pint zero.

Mind you once the unions get their hands on them they will be run into the ground quicker than a tarts knickers come down...
McDonnell is a scary man. Be afraid .... be very afraid ... and be careful what you wish for.

" Some of these loans were only paid off in the early 21st century. On 31 December 2006, Britain made a final payment of about $83m (£45.5m) and thereby discharged the last of its war loans from the US. By the end of World War II Britain had amassed an immense debt of £21 billion."
we are no longer beholden to the USA i believe our contributions to them ceased in 2006.
Don't forget the debt owed by the Germans after the war was cut by 50% and equally poor, literally, old Britain had to pay the last penny, or cent if you like.
//Labour had nothing to do with any of it././

Hahahahaha

Labour were the cause of The Good Lady. Take those rose tinted specs off for once.
so we did ^^
No because we reads the article and see

that the profits/ surpluses will pay for the cost of purchase and the interest - ddduh.

wont work of course
Gaitskell ( who he den ? - oh never mind ) promised that nationalisation would cost nothing as it wouild be paid for out of industrial output growth

he didnt win an election and it wouldnt have
