The mother of murdered toddler James Bulger has accused the authorities of "colluding" to cover up his killer's behaviour and has branded his 40 months sentence ‘a farce’. There are also calls for his anonymity to be lifted before he strikes again. This is the second time since his initial release he’s been jailed for possessing such images, described by the judge as "vile" and "heartbreaking", so the question is are we too lenient on people like him and does there come a time when we should decide to throw away the key?

Rehabilitation clearly hasn't worked.
He shouldn't be released again. He is not fit to live among us regardless of whether his identity is revealed.
He's an evil creature, irredeemably wicked, and an ongoing danger to innocent little children. He simply cannot and will not ever be rehabilitated.

Shame he can't be exterminated, so I guess the next best thing would be to lock him up for the rest of his natural life.
I don't think his identity should be made known, but I also don't think he should be released.....for a long time into the future.
Pictures of him can be found on the internet.
I think he has no purpose in this world. I don't know why his identity shouldn't be revealed and let nature take its course. £1000s must have been spent on him already for nothing.
And the rest, Prudie.
I wanted to use millions but as I don't actually know I thought I'd get pulled up about it :-)
It is in the millions.

According to this, dated 2001, the cost to the taxpayer was estimated then to be up to £5 million. That was 17 years ago so I think it’s reasonable to assume a far greater figure now.

Needs to be kept under lock and key, and anonymous, for his own good. I don't know that he's any danger to anyone else, though.

I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt.
Sooner or later inmates of a prison will realise who he is, I think he might just come to know how it feels to be really terrified. Having watched the programme last night with James's mum, I feel the same hatred I felt at the time.
N.M. For BA,
He's been out quite a while, Naomi. I've not heard that he's threatened anyone else. He's back inside now for secondhand abuse offences (ie possession, not creation), and that's proper. I don't see where doubt comes into it.

jno, this is the second time he's been back in.
Pensioners going hungry / cold & they look after this evil piece of S, that's British Justice.
Indirectly though his type are a danger to others- if he didn't want to watch this stuff innocent children wouldn't be sourced to satisfy his needs.
For me, possession is as dangerous, responsible and abusive as creation, Jno.
So what do you think?
Was he born "evil" or did society create him?
If the latter, then it is not entirely his fault as his upbringing needs to be taken into account.
His home life in Liverpool wasn't that easy and Mrs Bulger and Mr Bulger (wherever he is) must look at their own role in this.
