Good-ho. Can't wait to see Barnier's reaction to this.
Cue the Irish Border debate being reignited.
Cue uncertainly on whether exporters will face higher tariffs.
Cue existing WTO commitments needing to be redrafted.

Anyone think it would be this complex?
I would be a lot more worried if I were you, 3T. May has a strong track record of doing the opposite of what she promises.
Don't worry Zacs, it will all be sorted by another referendum, where we vote to remain.
Which will be followed by another one where we vote to leave, Referenda ad infinitum, lol
Wait and see what happens , after all the Cons are also known as ,
THE-- U--TURN party
"I won't call an election" -> calls an election
"I won't cap energy prices" -> caps energy prices
"I will reform social care" -> Does not reform social care.
"I will create a British bill of rights" -> Ditches the plans entirely
"Workers will be represented on company boards" -> No they won't.
"I will not increase NI contributions" -> Ho yes I will!
"Companies will have to publicly list foreign workers" -> No they won't.
"We will not leave the Customs Union" -> ???????
are we, why is that good news
We’re waiting for Tora to explain That one Emmie. Should be good.
Emmie, because if we remain in the Customs Union we will not be able to make any trade deals outside the EU.
presumably because simplifying red tape and getting preferential treatment from the nearest continent is no longer seen as a good idea, because the latter is run by dictators in jackboots.
thanks danny, short and sweet
Danny, do you realise that the EU’s free trade agreements (FTAs), provide better access to markets OUTSIDE of the EU than we would normally have?
//do you realise that the EU’s free trade agreements (FTAs), provide better access to markets OUTSIDE of the EU than we would normally have?//

That is not exactly true is it? We cannot make any arrangements without the EU say so and we must stick to EU terms.
And you expect the Pro EU CBI to say anything different?

It only benefits large International companies, you know the ones that usually avoid tax in the UK.
Sp, the CBI would. As it’s true.
youngmafbog

Could it not be argued that policies, laws and customs/trade agreements not only benefit large international concerns, but also the hundreds of thousands of employees working for said companies?
// if we remain in the Customs Union we will not be able to make any trade deals outside the EU. //

We are currently in the Customs Union. Do you really believe that we currently DON’T have any trade deals with the rest of the world. You know, the 55% of our trade that isn’t with the EU.

More fake news/Blatant lies from the Brextremists.
Gromit , those trade agreements are either with the EU or approved by the EU.
