I stumbled on it a couple of weeks ago and was horrified what it has become, young 'comedians' being vicious and nasty without any political knowledge, and highly edited to canned laughter.
They must be the darlings of the BBC swamp, which is in bad need of draining.

The issue is - comedy is the province (to a large extent) of the young. Younger people are more likely to lean to the left, so the comedy market reflects this.

Comedians that are favoured by older people (Sarah Millican, Peter Kaye and Michael McIntyre) are noticeably politically neutral.

If you tune in to Mock The Week, and they rely on the most popular British comedians, it will be populated by those who lean to the left.

I don't think the audience really wants to watch comedians that their grandparents favour.

I quite like MTW and I accept they are bunch of lefties and they are going to mock the Tories, fair enough, but millions of lefties are also brexiteers so I find it strange that they spend a lot of time deriding 17million of us.

I think that it’s likely that a fair chunk of the audience get that it’s a comedy show and can see that the there is a scattergun approach to who is targeted.

Same with 8 out of 10 Cats and Have I Got News For You.

If the comedy didn’t work, ratings would fall and the shows would be pulled.

Whatever they’re doing seems to chime with their respective audiences.
