///But there again, neither has he///

And you know this how?
Mikey/Andy Hughes, never seen it .... thought not. Impossible to take your protestations seriously then.
Naomi - // Mikey/Andy Hughes, never seen it .... thought not. Impossible to take your protestations seriously then. //

I fail to see why.

My 'protestation' is nothing to do with President Trump's ignorance or his boorishness - I am pointing out in answer to the OP, and to your response, that what he has said is not the truth, it is his opinion.

Now his opinion is no more or less valid than mine - but that does not negate the fact of what I have said, so you can take it seriously or not, as you wish, but it doesn't mean that my point is incorrect, or that what President Trump has said is the truth.
What fun we'd all have had if the prez had been in office at the time of Ndabanigi Sithole.

Now, please dismount those imposing creatures you're all currently astride, stop trying to invest the small-mouthed, tiny handed numbnuts and agree that he wouldn't know the truth if it was delivered to him in a Big Mac box.
andy-hughes, //My 'protestation' is nothing to do with President Trump's ignorance or his boorishness//

It was when you said a little while ago:

//it's his racist uninformed offensive opinion,//

//Now his opinion is no more or less valid than mine //

Perhaps he has experience of such places which makes his opinion – and mine - rather more valid than yours.
Douglas, //he wouldn't know the truth if it was delivered to him in a Big Mac box. //

He's a man of the world. I don't doubt he knows the truth about such places.
He's a man of HIS world Naomi, he seems to know little of how this one gets along.
Maybe .... maybe not.
Naomi - // Perhaps he has experience of such places which makes his opinion – and mine – rather more valid than yours.

You are side-tracking, whether deliberately or not, I don’t know.
First of all, there is no point debating whether President Trump’s opinion and yours are more valid than mine – because I haven’t expressed an opinion! So there is no point debating how valid my opinion is because, as I said, I don’t have one because I haven’t visited the countries in question, so I can’t offer an informed view. I can offer a view of course, but I haven’t so let’s leave that little side road and return to the main road shall we?

I strongly suspect that President Trump’s opinion is not informed either, but again, that is not the point I am making.

It is his opinion, and not the truth, and I am pleased to see that you are now referring to it as his opinion – so we are agreed, and you have contradicted your post at 17:04 -

// Actually it is the truth - although if he didn't say it there's no point discussing it. //
andy-hughes, //I haven’t expressed an opinion! //

You have expressed a very definite opinion. You said //it's not 'the truth'//

//you have contradicted your post at 17:04 -//

No I haven’t. There’s an ‘if’ there.

You’re grasping at straws.
Naomi - // andy-hughes, //I haven’t expressed an opinion! //

You have expressed a very definite opinion. You said //it's not 'the truth'//.

I do enjoy digging into the minutia of statements, and I am happy to do so here again - When I said 'It's not the truth', that is not an opinion, it's a fact. So it's not an opinion, definite or otherwise!

//you have contradicted your post at 17:04 -//

No I haven’t. There’s an ‘if’ there. //

The 'if' refers to whether or not the President said what he said, and that is not what I am arguing about.

I said that you posted at 17:04 that what the President said is 'the truth' - whether or not he said it is not the point, the point is, you referred to it as the truth.

In your next posts, you suddenly referred to it as 'opinion' which indeed it is - and that is what contracts your post.

//You’re grasping at straws. //

I don't think I am! You however ...
Andy....I would give up if I were you....you know Naomi is always right !
andy-hughes, whether he said it or not it is the truth.... but for obvious reasons I wouldn't expect you to know that. Nor you, Mikey.
Naomi....there is very little doubt that Trump used the words attributed to him.

And just because you say "its the truth" doesn't make it so.

Naomi - // andy-hughes, whether he said it or not it is the truth.... but for obvious reasons I wouldn't expect you to know that. //

I am unsure what 'reasons' you are referring to - clearly they are only 'obvious' to you.

That said, you appear to have difficulty in understanding the difference between truth an opinion - please allow me to help you out -

Hope that helps.
I was wondering if Mr President had ever heard of ...

Mikey, //Off to cook supper now !
( or dinner, as we call it in Mikey Towers)//

Off topic – and I know how you hate that – but since you mention it:

Supper = informal evening meal.
Dinner = formal evening meal.

It’s a bit like knowing without having to be told that men are required to wear jackets for tea at the Ritz. Fine china and silver is required only for dinner. Sorry for the diversion all, and I've no doubt Mikey is too.

Back to the subject.
