And Drew McMillan, head of colleague communication and engagement at Virgin, told staff in an internal memo: "Thousands of people choose to read the Daily Mail every day. But they will no longer be reading it courtesy of VT.
alleluia - the lord be praised, mikey can use virgin trains now!

if he so wishes, bet AOG won't be pleased.
Do they sell the AutoTrader? That'll do me.
Question Author
doubt it mamya...
I wonder if this is a form of censorship?
It's a while since I travelled by rail but I have no recollection of papers being sold on the train, only at the station. As Virgin only serve mainline stations this isn't really a problem. People who need their daily fix can get it before they board.
//The Virgin spokesperson added that when it stocked the paper, which it stopped carrying in November, it only sold one copy for every four trains.//

Don't know Emmie.

i think the Mail's top brass believe it is.
Unsurprisingly.
How many of other papers do they sell though ? I'd doubt buying on the train is greatly popular. In practice the decision isn't important; but as an apparent attempt to push only editorial opinion they like, it's rather disagreeable.
Surely this is because most people who read the news on trains do it via their phone. I can't remember the last time I bought a newspaper anywhere.
Apparently they only supply three papers: The Times, FT and The Mirror!
It is selling papers on the train

You can still buy your dear old Daily Mail at WH Smug and the others on the concourse.

The Daily Mail fielded an out Gay sub-editor who was asked - do you feel ashamed of being employed by the Daily Mail
and the fella had his answer worked out ( no)
‘We’re heading in a worrying direction’ fumes Farage
I told you he had a sense of humour :-)
oh no...that paper makes me laugh so much ..... the letters page is always a hoot. I may be forced to buy it now.....!!! On second thoughts maybe not!!
they can sell what they like, it's their train line.

Nice to see the Mail blaming it on Brexit.
True. If it had been any other paper which was discontinued because of lack of sales there wouldn't have been a peep. The mistake Virgin have made is to say that the paper does not reflect their values, thus giving ammunition to the Mail.
I never buy the Wail , but I photograph the Unique numbers on my phone every day and enter them on my Mail rewards account . I do the same with Sunsavers. Why buy a paper when all you need is the numbers?
Thank goodness I never travel on Virgin trains if that's all the newspapers they offer. Stopping sale of the Mail is at least a first step towards sanity.
It's become quite the thing for people who are up themselves to profess their distaste for the Mail.
How about if you just don't buy it and ***.
