It appears that it was the families wish that they shouldn't attend AOG :::::

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42347207

"Councillor Elizabeth Campbell, leader of Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, did not attend the service, after some families said they did not want the council there in an official capacity.
Because of heightened feelings of discontent built up, I agree however that all should put those to one side whilst uniting in memory of those who died.
disgraceful they couldn't have put their ill feelings to one side for the sake of unity..
Because the Left hijacked the terrible events and pursuaded people that, somehow, the Tories are to blame. It's nonsense. The guidelines on cladding and sprinklers etc were established under the Blair governments. Momentum and the truly ghastly new MP for Ken and Chelsea have filled a news vacuum. Shame on them.
Scoops....the Council had the choice whether to buy a cladding that was not very fire retardant, or one that more retardant, but cost more.

That decision will be just one of many that the Police investigation and the Enquiry will be examining.
this was a day of mourning and so you would think that they could have attended. You are right that this has become a political row over who done what and the hard left have hijacked it, which is also disgraceful.
Emmie....I can see no evidence that the "hard left" has hijacked this at all.

Many mistakes were made by many different people and different organisations, of that there is no doubt.
yeah, really awful to make this political when everyone knows it's all that Tony Blair's fault. However, it seems the borough was not actually run by Labour at the time of the fire. Mustn't say who was in power, of course. Just so we understand it was LABOUR'S FAULT.
sorry i didn't say it was Labours fault by the way, i did however say that the hard left, agitators were at the inquest, rallying the ordinary people, those people who had nothing to do with it, same as always i'm afraid. I find the same happens at many demo's there;s a hard core of protesters mostly left wing hardnuts who go out to spoil whatever the demo is about.
If that's what the families wanted, that's what they should have imo ...
Sad to see a memorial service politicised, but there you are. This one was.
yes it was and yes its terribly sad.
I’m really sorry to say this but I can’t help feeling there would not be all this coverage if it wasn’t in London
possibly, but losing 70 odd people in a terrible fire is more than news worthy to go global.
Let's hope we never have to find out in the future Ric.
I thought the victims of Grenfell Tower were "burnt alive in a Jewish sacrifice”
?
This sorry business is getting cult status and I am afraid to say that I am fast running out of sympathy. God rest those who perished but some seem to milking this tragedy for all it's worth.
You thought or Tahra Ahmed did Talbot?
er they asked the head of council not to attend
the gurl - actually the head at the time was Robert Poston-Money

and he was the one who held a private meeting of the council a day or so after, on .....how to minimise the council's liability. He probably thought it was his duty ( to minimise the amount the council would have to pay out) BUT ..... it did look heartless.

Poston Dingdong also failed to open the council offices over that week end, and asked why said summit like - "what did we want to do that for?"
You think she may have hot it wrong, Mamya?

Me too.
