"Five people, including three children, killed after stolen car crashes into tree in Leeds - two boys in custody"

No other news at present, but it sounds like a dreadful waste of life.

What a stupid waste of life. The kids were 12 and 15 years old. Their poor families.

how on earth can all 6 be killed in the car when the report was 5?
Are the beeb going wrong (again?)
you were referring to the incident, sapelesam, you said "every time" - which must include "this time" - and added that people's houses and cars would be safer.

Sneering at the death of a 12-year-old, any 12-year-old, is about as unpleasant as it gets.
alba - 5 killed, 2 injured. All the killed were in the car ie, of the 6 in the car 1 injured and 5 killed. 1 pedestrian injured.
The penalty for stealing a car is ... by and large so insignificant that it is no deterrent at all.

Perhaps if we did deal a whole lot more harshly with twoccing then there would be 6 or 7 people still alive today.

But we are where we are, and I have no sympathy/empathy when this currently risk-free crime goes wrong.
bhg, "the thieves choose the death penalty". Don't think so. And, in the case of the 12yo, it may well be that his 15yo brother was meant to be looking after him and the younger sibling only got in the car because his brother did. But he chose to die!
I think you have misinterpreted Sapelesam, jno - I think he was speaking generally rather specifically.

jeez, a pedestrian going about their business and caught up in this mess! poor soul.

Then then 15 year old who nicked Mr Alba's car and wrote it off was lucky to come out alive, sent on one of these 'awareness' courses where you're shown graphic images of car crashes.

10 years on, he's in the nick for a variety of offences.
*rather than specifically*
wHERE HAS THE NEWS OF A PEDESTRIAN INJURED COME FROM ??
Link Please

Ps sorry for shouting
Sunny-Dave, I didn't misunderstand, I have not made a single comment about this tragedy. I read your post and was commenting on past incidents involving young men. I do not appreciate what Jno is saying to me. When I read some of the earlier comments, mine were mild, and again, did not refer to this recent incident.

I'm still not sure the numbers add up. Two boys were arrested, all 5 dead were in the car, all 7 were not in the car, so there were 1 or 2 outside the car. Since 2 were arrested it implies they were in the car.
Sorry SD, just reread your post, my dyslexia got me confused.
The five dead and one of the 16 year old boys (injured) were in the car - the other 15 year old it appears was not.

Reports keep changing but a tragedy it remains for all involved.

15 not 16, sorry for duplicating links.
As I understand it. The police are now saying 6 were in the car of which 5 were killed. Of the 2 15 year olds arrested only 1 was was in the car at the time of the accident. 1 15 year old has been released under investigation and 1 remains in custody.
sapelesam, you said

everytime a young man dies

Well, two young men have died. So everything you said after that applies to the present case, including your charming "toerag" comment.

Don't say "every time" if you mean "not every time".
I don't think they deserved to lose their lives but there's nobody to blame for the result of their actions but themselves, mostly the driver.

Sad maybe, but true.
Jno, for the last time, if you read my post properly, you will see I referred to single individuals (in the past) who were said to have a heart of gold and everyone loved, this has not been said about any of the five dead. I also say toerag, singular. At no point have I ever posted about this tragedy. Why you pick on my post when this thread is littered with awful comments. Goodnight to you sir.
A 12 year old boy

Just saying.
I would presume speed & loss of control was the cause of the accident, one person responsible for the deaths, the driver.
