Trade unions should
have a say in drawing up MPs employment contracts with their staff,
Labour's deputy leader Tom Watson has suggested.

ah I see mis read it but the answers the same unions never improve anything.

Improved the lot of the working class here. Unless you think the abuse of workers during your grandparents' time, and earlier, was acceptable, and we should return there. Unions were, and are, the voice of their working class members, the only power they had against those who only wanted to use them in order to become wealthy.

yes they once had a use OG, till hey got silly and needed slapping down. Now they serve no real purpose.
Unfortunately unions are weak now, which is how the likes of Mike Ashley get away with zero hours contracts and disgaceful rates of pay, especially for the young. They pay a pittance, and the taxpayer ends up paying £millions in working tax credits to people who supposedly have a proper job.
Wouldn’t be surprised at a winter of discontent II with all the gloomy economic news and Universal Credit nonsense.

Haha every winter is a winter of discontent, followed by a spring one then a summer one and ending with an autumn one. Then all back on the bus, and as Steely Dan sang, Back Jack and Do It Again.
Oh they're needed. Had there been one at my last employer's management'd have found it more difficult to impose unreasonable changes to the job conditions. The unions were initially there to improve things, now they're vital to ensure no slipping back.
I can just hear Boris singing the song . You can't get me I'm part of the union.
I keep reading that as they need a new loo, with the pickling reference.
