The old joke is actually - "What do you call a man who hangs around with musicians ..." - the point being that the drummer is not thought of being a musician at all.
Ringo Starr has an OBE for services to British exports, and he is one quarter of a band who changed the fabric of world culture permanently, and he has probably paid more tax than the entire AB community put together.
But actually - none of these things matter in the slightest.
He was asked for an opinion, and he gave it, and because he is Ringo Starr, his opinion is printed in the media.
The fact is, he is as entitled to an opinion as anyone else - of you don't agree with it, then fine, but that does not entitle you to insult him in his absence.

If you think he is a hypocrite, then fine - say so, but don't insult him for answering a question put to him by a journalist in an interview.
If you asked him - Ringo would probably have preferred to talk about his new album, which is what he was being interviewed about, but if the interviewer wants to slip into politics and try and be provocative, I am sure Ringo would not be so rude as to refuse to answer, so he did - honestly.

He's not, which is entirely my point.
Maybe Mikey will come along and argue his reasons for saying that he is - but until then, I fail to see any reason why he, Mikey, sees Mr Starr as such.
To me, a hypocrite is someone who pretends one view while actually holding another - there is no evidence of that in the link provided.
