I know very well what you meant by the Nigerian scam, I have no need to Google anything - nor should anyone need to unravel your ramblings.

Speak clearly man if you have a valid point to make.

well you appear to still be partaking in this thread mamy!
> The trouble is with any sort of successful scam is it relies on either greed or desperation

There are loads of scams that rely on neither. Here is one, for example ("CEO fraud"):

Here is another ("overpayment scam"):

Not trying to score points, just trying to dispel the myth that scams rely on greed or desperation; anybody who thinks that may get caught out one day.

TBF that's cheque scam is as old as the hills ellipsis.
There are some modern takes on it, TTT.

Here's another one for Barmaid, who is a solicitor, that also does not rely on greed or desperation but simply being tricked into thinking you're talking to somebody different ("man in the middle attack"):

A fool and his money re easily parted.

One of the problems today is that everything is too instant. Often in days of yore there was time to think before sticking the stamp on and posting your cheque to a Nigerian Prince who had 5Bn stuck in an account. Nowadays at the click of a button your hard earned is winging its way to 'Prince' Winston Kodogo before the scam as had time to sink in.
