To answer the OP, their ambassador being summoned by us to have a quiet word in his shell-like must be akin to being savaged by a tortoise....

Do you have to call him that? It's not funny and just seems like a "look at the funny Asian" joke
Oh dear.
Question Author
Not really, but he makes himself a figure of fun.
Just think of the people of North Korea who are living under the most monstrous tyranny. Somehow, and I don't know how, these people should be able to enjoy the freedom many other countries enjoy. Read up on the place. There are serious documentaries on You Tube. It really isn't funny. Now that China appears to be rather more on side with UN resolutions we can only hope and pray that these poor people can somehow be liberated.

Scoops....agree 100%. I am not sure how dragging the Ambassador in and giving him a dressing down is going to help very much.

As you say, China would seem to hold some kind of key here.
Is casual racism acceptable on AB now ?
Personally I don't think there is anything wrong in calling this nutter Ding Dang Dong.
Question Author
There is nothing whatsoever racist about calling a ruthless dictator anything. I expect South Koreans have a similar name and ethnic identity, but they are not threatening world peace. .......DDD is.

Pmsl Gromit.
Blimey.
Mikey ,16.45 , how about TGL, I find that very offensive.
Well yes, but "ding dang dong" is a joke about the fact he is Asian, not his tyranny.

It'd be a bit like calling Robert Mugabe "W0gbert Ogabooge" or something.

Can you imagine what it would be like for the N/K people, if one day they are given freedom, and see how the other parts of the world live, what a nice surprise they would have, or would they want to stay as they are?

///he makes himself a figure of fun///

A figure of fun with his finger on the Nuclear Button?
Yeah right!
To answer the OP, their ambassador being summoned by us to have a quiet word in his shell-like must be akin to being savaged by a tortoise....
Kim Jong Un = 9 letters
Ding Dang Dong = 12 letters......so saving typing time can't be the reason.

It must be because it's a jolly wheeze to poke fun at funny foreign names..... Hoo flung dung, and the like.

Rather detacts from the seriousness of the matter at hand, doesn't it?
Gromit, 16.54, very offensive!. your answer should be removed

You have the option of reporting it gulliver, if you know how.
