How do you ban Islam? How do you ban ideas ? Make everyone take a lie detector test and then lock them up indefinitely if they fail it? Lock up Sadiq Khan? Can prisons hold a few million Muslims?
Make everyone take a lie detector test and then lock them up indefinitely if they fail it?

Or maybe take a leaf out of the Oregon gun man's book ask then their religion and if they fail shoot them?

Danny, stop faith schools, stop building mosques.

Build it and they will come.
Naomi, I am not refusing to condemn Islam, and I think we have had this discussion before. I hate it, and I don't mind if we have to take action which upsets Muslims. My concern is solely whether or not any action we take would make matters better or worse for the rest of us.
Talbot, do you honestly believe that that will stop terrorism?
If the schoolchildren from a school in you neighbourhood were terrorising (in the old fashioned sense of the word) the local people and their property, what would you do? It's no use bawling at the kids, they would take no notice, so you approach the school and their parents who would have to take sanctions against them.
This is why we should go to and if necessary make these crimes carried out in the name of Islam the responsibility of their religious leaders and their community, failure to stop it would lead to closure of the mosque, in the way that a bad school which could not control its pupils would be closed.
When the child swore, Diogenes struck the father.
Nothing can stop terrorism totally, doenst mean we dont have to roll over and just accept the atrocities.

We can start with some of the suggestions and go from there, even if we can't stop it we should be able to reduce it. Allowing hordes of unkowns into a continent where ISIS has said it will create a caliphate is madness.

I alos find it odd that we have had a massive outburst and a call to ban the white supremists who are just as bad as ISIS. If as people now say we cant stop ISIS how do they intend to stop the white suprematist?
In that analogy more often than not these days the parents support the kids and because they have no recourse so do the schools sometimes - as it would be I fear for some of the religious leaders. If they find it so abhorrent so far they're not sending out much of an effective message.
Garaman, I don’t think you were one of the people Talbot was referring to, but you responded to him by talking about defeating terrorism, which led me to believe you’d missed the point he was making.

//My concern is solely whether or not any action we take would make matters better or worse for the rest of us.//

Eventually we are going to have to face this problem square on and offend or please, do whatever is necessary to combat it. For all our bending and scraping, Islam will not be placated. That is not within its remit. Islam does not compromise - and the sooner we recognise that and acknowledge it frankly, the better.
//When the child swore, Diogenes struck the father.//
I like that Khandro although the full Robert Burton quote was “Diogenes struck the father when the son swore, because he taught him no better.”
Other Robert Burton quotes are also fitting for our hand wringers and virtue signallers.
Robert Burton
“A good conscience is a continual feast.”
Or.
“Like the watermen that row one way and look another.”
The message given out late last night and this morning seemed to me to suggest that if when hearing of a tragedy such as this you voiced your sadness and sympathy to the dead and injured and their family but then did not continue with a lambast and/or a solution to the problem you were purely signalling your virtue.

I have never read as much garbage as that in my life.

I for one if I had any ideas and solutions would share them , not only here but with the people who have the power to implement them.
Well put Mamylynne. It will take a genius to come up with a solution to the terrorist problem.
Whose virtue signalling now?
Ask someone who is virtuous Khandro because it sure as hell isn't me.
Leave no turn unstoned.
Find a cap......feel it fits......... duly wear it........blame someone else when you decide it doesn't "suit" you.
Or even better - no quote, my own words.

Next time you see a post on people killed or maimed on AB - ignore it, because you certainly aren't going to say what is expected of you and you'll be told so.

That is why the site is suffering.
Nail on the head, Mamyalynne.
Or upon seeing a thread about an horrific terrorist attack, join the thread and immediately attack those attacking the purpetrators ... That also seem to be an option.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not drastic unpopular actions must be taken.

Or do you think it will eventually go away?
I wholeheartedly condemn violent terrorist attacks, if I omitted it on this thread, I erred - I am human, my first thoughts were for those involved.

Drastic action on terrorism is needed, but I admit my utter failings at having any better ideas than those charged to sort it.Which is why I don't write chapters on my non existent therefore no workable solutions.

Eventually go away?

Without any action or some sort of magical mind change - no.
Mamya //my first thoughts were for those involved. //

You're not alone in that, I think you should take that as granted for everyone on here, but I don't think many of the relatives of those killed and maimed are answerbank readers.
I agree Mamy ....( 12:02)
