I'm sure the woman didn't have her breast out on display while she was in the museum. She probably put the baby under her top and carried on. She mentions that someone might have seen her breast for a nanosecond, so that confirms my thoughts.

And no, I don't want to see men walk around naked.
From what I can gather this lady wasn't walking around topless - or naked - so I don't really understand aog's reference to nudity.
naked men and breast-feeding mothers - I'm sorry, I can't see any connection between the two.
It's simple naomi.....she is pointing out how ridiculous it i to critizise breast feeding in public by standing in front of a bare breasted woman.
AOG is saying , taking along that example, there are plenty of nude men in the museum, but that doesn't licence men to go about naked.
That's it.
Not breast feeding again!!

Babies are so inconsiderate wanting feeding!! Little tykes!
exactly ummm. Keep them all locked up until they come off the breast.
Oh hang on, that would mean the mother would have to be locked up too.
Chain them all to the kitchen and be damned.
(strewth!!)
sqad, I understand what she's saying - but I think aog is stretching it somewhat.

Thank you Sqad, so good to have someone around who is intelligent enough to understand the obvious.
///Museum director and former Labour MP Tristram Hunt apologised last night, saying: ‘Our policy is clear: women may breast-feed wherever they like, wherever they feel comfortable.’///

It would appear that one of the V&A workers didn't get that particular memo....

Question Author
The woman is an attention seeker, her child is not a baby in the true sense of the word, so therefore she should be old enough now to be taking solid food, and there is a very good cafe in the V&A to provide it.
What age is the wee one, ANOTHEOLDGIT?
// naked men and breast-feeding mothers - I'm sorry, I can't see any connection between the two.//

http://hindutva.info/why-naga-sadhus-do-not-wear-clothes/

yeah OK you arent gonna meet many naga sadhus in a museum....

Men do walk around topless. They clearly aren't breastfeeding. Do they just do it for attention then?
// What age is the wee one, ANOTHEOLDGIT?//

THECORBYLOON

I have no idea, but judging by her photograph certainly not a baby dependable entirely on her mother's breast milk.
AOG / Sqad

The link to male statues is not quite right.

When women breast feed, they do so with one breast out, with a child covering it with their head. There's actually very little to see. In fact, if you think about it, a low cut top reveals about as much as a breastfeeding woman.

Statues od bare-breasted women are different because you can see the whole breast, with the nipples included. They are more explicit.

Therefore, your comparison would only make sense if breastfeeding women actually got both boobs out and stood around baring them for all to see, nipples included.

Breastfeeding women don't do that.
sp, that's pretty much what I said - but aog seems to think that's unintelligent, so wotchit!

Oh dear, I am going to shock you immensely here pixie, (takes a deep breath), YES THEY DO.
But we won't criticise those doing it for attention, only those that actually have a reason to?
ANOTHEOLDGIT, at what age do you think breastfeeding should stop?
