Or dare I suggest it may be partially due of the different cultural standards that we now have in this country?

I say this because in all the recent debates on this subject, many reasons have been put forward ie one parent families (no father figures) Falling Police resources due to Government cuts, Violent video games, cessation of stop and searches, etc, etc.

But nowhere has multiculturalism ever been mentioned, is it because of the fear that the dreaded racist card may be played?

You posited:

//It is not racist to hold a particular preference of who one would prefer to live next door to one, due to their perceived lifestyle.//

Yes it is.

It's the very essence of racism.

You are not considering black families to be individuals with traits specific to them. You make no distinctions on class, background, taste or origin (guess what - African families rarely listen to 'Reggie', whoever that is).

Racism is where you attribute qualities to someone based purely on their race, and use that perception to influence your relationship with them.

Also, it's not an old chestnut. You wrote that mere weeks ago.
Hang on - you've now changed the goalposts.

You've written:

//It is not racist to hold a particular preference of who one would prefer to live next door to one, due to their perceived lifestyle.//

But's that's not what you originally wrote.

You wrote that you wouldn't want a black family moving next door to you because you don't like loud reggae music and barbecues.

You were attributing characteristics to a specific race. Now you've twisted it to make it sound like race isn't a factor.

It was in your original statement.
Is 'posited' your word of the week, sp?

Mere weeks ago, really?

You made reference to the original post back in August 2015, when you wrote this:

/// Sarcastic ageism? Is that anything like sarcastic racism when saying you wouldn't want a black family moving in next door to you, because you don't like rap music and loud barbecues? ///

How far and in what context my original post on the subject goes back to I have not researched yet.

No changing of the goalposts, (the correct term is moving or shifting the goal posts).

Read due to their perceived lifestyle in connection with the playing of load music, and I think we can take it for granted that black people like their music and dance.

I would also not like a family of any colour living next door to me who kept a number of noted loud and vicious large dogs, whereas a family that owned a couple of sweet little terriers would be a completely different matter.

How are you with ferrets?
Should be ok Lynne, they are white.
"No changing of the goalposts, (the correct term is moving or shifting the goal posts)." writes the man who referred to "Reggie" music...
You mean someone's sold me a wrong 'un - mine's not.
Maybe he was referring to Reginald Dixon the organist.
Load music is heavy man.
Most of them are Lynne.
Arbuthnot is special then.

Don't quote me on this but I think white people like their music and dance ... even reggae.

Better to ask those who seem to have them down their pants.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, in your examples you said you'd not like to have neighbours of any colour if they "kept a number of noted loud and vicious large dogs. "
In your example of neighbours playing loud music and barbecues, you referred to black folk, NOT to folk of any colour.

Can you not see the difference?
