Great choice or 'political correctness gone mad'

Personally I wanted Tilda Swindon, but that was unlikely to ever happen.

Dammit I thought I was posting in this thread but it was the other one. Doh. A few years ago I’d have thought it was a daft idea but the plotlines have allowed for it, so as long as there’s some “internal” logic for it I’m not bothered. Plus I’ve been feeling for a while that it’s grown stale and complacent, and is in need of a firm kick up the rear end....

I'm looking forward to watching Dr Who with Jodie Whittaker. Haven't watched it since after Chris Eccleston played the part as I found it boring. Wonder if she'll have a male sidekick.
I was so hoping for Eddie Izzard to get the gig ....
Miriam Margolyes would have nailed it.
She'd have broken the Tardis's sweary word filter I think :)
Ah yes, they'd have to show it later.

Got to give you BA for the Miriam Margolyes suggestion.

I think she might be a little bit old now for the more action packed sequences, but by God, she would be awesome...along the lines of a modern day Tom Baker.
Yes, I think she's ace - ta.
I hoped they would choose a black ethnic woman to be PC i.e. Diane Abbot or Shami Chakrabati but I spose Jezza keeps his harem close....lol
//Wonder if she'll have a male sidekick.//

If it is to be a stupid sidekick , then yes. If meant to be perceptive and resourceful, then no.
^^^ she's only had it a couple of hours ^^^
Hope the doc's insurance is fully comp, Dave.
Would be a pretty stinky Tardis with Miriam Margolyes as The Doctor - she's famous for 'letting off' !
She could blame K9, gg.
There's full air con thankfully.

PS - Dave that was the Chauffeur's fault.
I hope to goodness this is the TV show you lot are on about.
i liked Jon Pertwee, but have not watched it for many years, daleks with their sink plunger arms mmm, not star trek is it...
I have never heard of her... which as a rule of thumb I think is about the right response people should be having. Much as I love Capaldi (best Dr since 1983), I do dislike how the show sometimes feels like a vehicle for people who are already famous, whereas I like it when they give chances to hitherto unknown/under-appreciated talent.

Have ABers seen this woman in other stuff? Is she actually quite well known or is it just me who's never heard of her.
i remember her from broadchurch but then again i don't watch much television
