Perhaps in those countries that are not so acceptive to homosexuality, but surely there is now no longer need here?

“…wander to somewhere along the route of the march. You'll both be very welcome and have an excellent time. :o)” Two or three years ago I was unfortunate enough to be “somewhere along the route of the march”, not wandering but trying to go about my business. I’m not sure whether or not I was welcome (I would like to hope I was not). This was because my...

And what country might that be?
Just to interject at this late stage.....
I was in London on Saturday and would like to thank all the participants and attendees of the Pride march. It was very colourful and the people watching was excellent!
Bit annoying that so many roads were cordoned off (not being able to get from one side to t'other) but a very jolly (refrains from saying 'gay') occasion all round.

You posited:

//The difference being there are only certain groups that can say "I was attacked because I'm..........." and then everyone holds their hands up in sheer horror.//

I guarantee that there are way more groups than you'd think.

If an elderly man or woman is beaten up and robbed of their wallet/purse - they will elicit more sympathy than a 25 year old bloke.

If a woman is attacked, likewise.

If a gang attacks a lone teenager (of any race), likewise.

If a child is attacked, likewise.

If a disabled person is attacked, likewise.

Basically, many groups.

Well done for the reasons I gave in the very post you're questioning.

Although I'm sure you can see it was tongue-in-cheek, as evidenced by the wink emoji at the end.
"you think only Thames Water should have the right to close roads, NJ?"

Eh?
I think Talbot sometimes misses the bit of tongue in cheek banter.... ;-)

Life’s a bit tough sometimes but I’m sure they’ll get over it.//

This is the key area where I think you're slipping up.

Pride is no longer centred on a march or a protest. The protest element has largely died away.

What Pride is now, is more aligned to a carnival. As it has opened out and become bigger, it is less to do with politics, and more to do with having fun.

The fact that London swells by a million people (just think of that!)

This is the thing that I don't think you understand - Pride has expanded to such an extent that it's attended by a lot of straight people. Those who want to have a good time with their mates (straight or gay) in a convivial environment in the sun in summer in London.

I'm sure that even the most dour of us can remember what it's like to have fun, right?
If you are Homosexual, the attitudes adopted towards you could be Political.

A***** told his father that he was planning to marry his 'male' friend B*******. A's father was aghast and said " You need to think again my boy. You obviously haven't thought of the disgrace you will bring upon our Family. There I am the Chairman of the local Conservative party and you talk about marrying into a Labour family".

Hans.

Hans.
Lol^^
Can I change tack a moment...

Does anyone else sometimes get an overwhelming urge to type "Knees and bumpsadaisy" after Hans has signed off?
Well I will now, Mamya!!!!... :-))
Being quite straight, I can't cope with ladies who get overwhelming urges in respect of me.

Hans.☺☺☺
We have a bucket of water if you don't.
I don't but I wonder why he signs of every time.

Not many of a Muslim-like appearance at the wedding.
Can it really be called a Muslim gay wedding?
“What Pride is now, is more aligned to a carnival.”

Then that’s even worse. The streets of Central London are not suitable for a carnival (and you can either look back to last August or wait till next to see my views on Notting Hill).

“The fact that London swells by a million people (just think of that!)”

I do think of that. There are already about three million too many people in London. Another million is nothing to be pleased about. To arrange two unnecessary jamborees in London within six weeks is just plain irresponsible. If they are just to enable people to have "fun in the sun" they could combine the two and hold the event in a more suitable location.
//The mosque he'd been attending for the past 15 years no longer allowed him in and he was physically attacked by other Muslim boys. Feeling ostracised, Mr Choudhury attempted to kill himself.//

//This is about showing people I don't care, my family doesn't want to come on the day, they just don't want to see it, it's too embarrassing for them.//

t//hey think it's a disease and can be cured, some of my family still call it a phase.//

Nice.

That's a sad and happy story, Tony.......and shows how we should think before calling other folk nasty and hurtful names.......x
